Well "threat" is a subjective designation; Bush is in hostile territory + some guy is charging the podium + he's clearly angry/disturbed + he's yelling in Islamic + he's throwing a then unidentified object at the president.

I'd say the SS did well keeping their cool, rather than shooting first and claiming suspected WMD's.

he did, but it was because he's so monumentally stupid he thought the war was so successful it had converted all the Iraqis to Christianity, and the guy was just throwing him a pair of shoes as a Christmas present.

Islamic isn't a language.

I wasn't aware the secret service has a history of shooting first and claiming suspected WMD's.

I like Bush.
The expression on his face is sweet. He's kind of proud of himself for ducking the first one, and comes right back up to have a look at what's gonna happen next, not a care in the world.

What?... me worry?

Yep.

Not appropriate in this case.

Be sarcastic or make fun of Bush all you want, both well deserved. But when someone starts suggesting that the Secret Service is prone to shooting harmless hecklers it's not funny. Especially when you consider the views of the US around the world.

Yeah, that's got to be the highlight of his career.

I thought he was going to stick his fingers in his ears, flap his fingers and say na na na, until the second shoe came winging bye.

The threat of a third shoe quelled his bravado!

I don't think the SS would have been faulted if they did shoot him, for reasons I already stated. What if he threw a grenade?

It's also ironic that you would think its so far fetched, given the "views of the US around the world". The very country that invaded Iraq under the guise of WMD's - ie shoot first and figure it out after - also happens to employ the SS. Spin it anyway you want, but those apples dont fall too far from the tree.

I got to believe everyone was thoroughly searched before being allowed in the room, so Bush and the SS knew there was no bomb or gun, etc.

I (literally) bumped into a secret service guy while Laura Bush was speaking in Mobile Alabama. Those guys are cool, calm, and collected at all times. Also intimidating.

Guy ran out of feet!

What are those things on the bottom of those shoes? Looks like the throwing stars we used to see in the old kung fu movies. Throwing stars being hurled at his head = even funnier!
