I was thinking he would take over Copeland's spot. JC didn't have a great year.

I guess so. I found as the season went along all the big catches at key points in games were by Copeland though.
I guess the team can't be complacent going into next year even if they have a lot of talent as is.

There's also the suspicion that he's just hyping up the Calgary offer in order to get more out of the Roughriders, since he is a Saskatchewan boy and all that.

Actually I would almost say it is the other way around. The Stamps would be stupid to not want to at least entice him with Calgary, make a reasonable offer, if he comes here great, if not at least they've driven up the price for the Riders. If he did sign here it'd be a double negative for the Riders, Stamps get better and they miss out on a good hometown boy.

Rod Pedersen (pbp guy for the Riders on the Radio) said on his blog that it's just a matter of time before Clermont signs with the Riders.
http://rodpedersen.blogspot.com/ <--believe this if you want
Also, Clermont should be on the Wolf 104.9 Friday. He was going to be on there today but postponed it til tomorrow, I'm not sure what time
Hopefully we do sign him.

Just a note about Rod Pedersen but he is not a York/Sportak/Ecklund kind of guy. He's actually pretty respected. Even Rob Kerr pointed out on the radio yesterday that Pedersen knows what he is talking about.

Piss off man. You think Hufnagel and Barker would purposely drive up the price of a player so it makes it harder on another team? They went after him because they wanted him on the team. Period. He is a good player and an asset to any team.

Yep, he especially knew what he was talking about when he excused the Rider fans' behavior for throwing beer cans at the Lions players on Ron Lancaster night, and said it was the fault of the Lions, and they deserved it....

Pedersen was bang on with his assessment of that one. Although, I'm sure you didn't read enough of it (if any at all) to understand it.

Yeah he sure nailed it, was it the "Fans are soooo into the game, it's OK if they commit criminally negligent acts that can lead to harm to the players on the field" or was it the mysterious "old man hit in face with football by the deadly aim of the BC lions" that no one ever heard anything about again outside of the internet????
LMAO.

Thanks for verifying. You clearly missed Rod's take on that situation.
I'm not going to re-hash this but I'll never defend the 'fans' who threw the beer that's just stupid. But the Lions weren't innocent in the situation either.

Wow you clearly know nothing about sports. Maybe you should piss off and stop spoiling this thread with your clearly moronic posts.

Calm down ladies. In some instances you are both right (both scenarios happen in certain situations). In this situation, I have to agree with worth. Calgary really did want Clermont on their team. They pushed hard for him but he chose to sign with his hometown. Oh......and he signed for less then what he was making in BC.

Of course they wanted him on their team. Even if it was obvious from day one that he was going to sign with Sask they still tried.
In fact that is EXACTLY what my original post said. If he comes here great if not so what at least they tried.

Yeah but I don't think their intention was to drive up the price(and even if it was, it wasn't a factor). Clermont signed for quite a bit less then what he was making in BC. Money was not a factor for Jason, it was the team he signed with.

No their intention was to sign him and since it was blatantly obvious that he wasn't going to in the very least they may have cost the Riders a little more, maybe not but it happens all the time in sports.
I made that post like a week ago in response to the fact the Stamps were trying to sign him, the fact that he may have signed for less is now irrelevant. I was just speculating on why the Stamps would try and sign him. But acting like that tool did and telling me to piss off was pretty ######y. I guess I should expect it from his type.

Yeah I agree with you that it happens all the time in sports. I've seen it so many times. I was just saying in this situation I don't think it was a factor.
