Not sure I understand this at all.
Congressmen/women have dozens of things on their plates at all times...from budgets to commttees to everything tabled to become law. How is this costing any more money?
There is a real reason they are getting involved though and it has to do with unfair trade practices...something they oversee in every industry. Its part of their collective jobs.
Obama actually made this part of his campaign near the end, so it should surprise no one that it will be looked at. Of course their are more important things going on, but that doesnt mean that everything else is ignored.

To say Obama made it part of his campaign is stretching things a little. Berman lobbed him a softball during a halftime segment and Obama, compared to McCain's answer to the same question, kind of whiffed on it. It's not like he included it in his campaign platform.
Honestly, when you get down to the core of the subject it's still a game and I really don't think congress should get involved. I had the same opinion during Senator Spector's whole foray into the Spygate ordeal.

they have been involved in steroids...should they have? They were involved in anti-trust laws against MLB...should they have? They have been hosts to every single sports commisioner as well. Just because it is sports, doesn't mean it isn't a business. It is. And as such they have the same oversight they have over every business in the USA.

Championship game next Friday night against Richmond or Northern Iowa.
Great game, nothing like playoff football!

I was pretty noncommittal going in to this game. If the Griz won, cool for Montana, cool for the Big Sky Conference. if they lost, cool, I'm a Bobcat fan...
Then, I saw a sign that said "Montana, who cares?" After that I wanted the Griz to step on their necks!!!
That 2pt conversion was NOT good, BTW...
Chase Reynolds, 173 total yards, 3 TD. Not bad for a boy from Drummond. (8 man football)

I think you overestimate the concern that the average American has in these issues.
The economy, sure. War "a world away"/genocide in a country that 90%-95% of the U.S. couldn't find on a map? "Git me Tejas in a playoff!!!" Also, break the DirecTV stranglehold on NFL Sunday Ticket while they're at it...
The first term is all about getting re-elected.

Go Griz
Yeah, the ref who called it no good on the field was in perfect position. Ridiculous employment of replay.
When Montana was playing with their full playbook (ie not sitting on a lead) JMU had no answer.
It's amazing how many Montana kids are on that team.
As for JMU? Well, that's what happens when you are that one dimensional. You get your best player hurt (which acutally helped their offense IMO) and you have very little chance of coming from behind because your playbook eats up the clock.

I'm sure Montana Moe is also aware that Carroll College will be playing for their 6th National Championship in the last 7 years on the 20th against Sioux Falls in Rome, GA. 28 straight wins.
Who says Montana, who cares?

Carroll is so impressive. There have been seasons where no one is even close to them in conference or nationally.
Watching the Richmond game tonight, I didn't see anything that made me think the Griz are going to struggle with them. You never know, but I like Montana's chances. I really thought they were going to have a bit of a down year this season...
For the small population we have, Montana puts out some quality teams!
Congrats to Bradford, he is well deserving of the Heisman. Too bad he'll be at the helm of another BCS loss for the Sooners.
Here's ESPN.com's preview of the upcoming Championship game.
This Friday night at 8 EST for those interested in watching.

Any idea if it will be airing in Canada? We generally don't get Div II games.
It's not Division II.
It will be carried on ESPN 2, not sure if you guys get that up there on cable or dish. Also, ESPN's schedule says 7 PM unless it is just reading my time zone before revealing listings.

My sources for Auburn information need to check their sources, lol.... Apparently the Leach hiring was not a done deal.
Auburn hires Gene Chizik as head coach. Former defensive coordinator with some pretty darn good Auburn teams. Chizik left to coach at Iowa State with little success. 5-19 after two seasons at ISU.
Auburn fans are NOT happy that he was even interviewed: (Auburn Athletic Director Jay Jacobs returning from Ames, Iowa where he interviewed Chizik)
The Auburn job seemed to be one that nobody wanted. Saban is locking up the in state recruits, and Auburn's recent success is going to make it tough to allow any time to develop a program. Folks are thinking this is a temporary hire until they can find the coach they really want in the next couple of years.
