				 Do you have a passport?

Starting June 1, 2009, a U.S. law will require Canadians to present a valid passport to enter the USA by water or land. U.S. law already requires Canadians to present a valid passport to enter the U.S. by air. http://www.ppt.gc.ca/index.aspx?lang=eng |

yep, got my renewal last week. Do the online renewal form and bring it in, you bypass the entire lineup. I think I was in there 10 minutes.

I did the same thing.. Man people give you dirty looks when you are in and out in 10 minutes and they've been there for hours.

Agreed, this was the best move I ever made when I had to get my passport. The only bad thing was I took the morning off work to submit my passport and I was at my desk by 9:30.

To make travel easier we got a passport for our little girl who was five months at the time. Trying to get a 5 month old to be still, not smile, and look forward was an adventure in itself. Her picture looks like a minature Jabba the Hut and looks nothing like she does now even though it was only three months ago.
The process is so much easier now than it was when I first applied for a passport, I don't know why everyone doesn't get one.

Definitely the way to do it. My wife works at Passport Canada, and that's what she tells all our friends and relatives.

Also, make sure you get a qualified/experienced photographer to take your passport photo. Lots of passports applications get rejected because there's a problem with the photo.

When I applied for my passport, I got my photo taken by the Alberta Motor Association (recommended by my wife). They took two sets of pics. The first set didn't meet their quality standards (they knew that PPC would probably reject them) so they did it again.

I took everything down to PPC and their was no problem. Got my passport 2 weeks later in the mail.

^^Same. I read that and thought if it were me, I would have been in a mall shopping or relaxing somewhere.
I have to get my passport renewed. It's just about expired, so thanks for the online tip.

Is it a Canadian passport? If so, where do you get the photos taken in the States? I've had so much trouble with the strict rules on the photo; no one can do it from Chicago to St. Louis

If you're not in a hurry to get your passport, send all the forms and supplementary stuff by mail and you spend zero minutes in line. The only place you have to go to is the mailbox.

My parents got theirs this week for a trip to Hawaii with my Aunt and Uncle. I have no plans of leaving the country anytime soon but I probably should get one now so that I have it for whenever I do.
