I'm okay with trades, but if it does create more work, then I am fine leaving it as it is... kinda forces me to do some searching through genres I normally wouldn't listen to at all.
I feel that the point of the categories is to "force" people to come up with something for each of them, so if this is a vote I say no category-trading. If you can't come up with anything in a category, shame on you, you should widen your horizons

I'm with Itse. Besides, we can always add some more wildcards at the end like we did in the movie draft as I am sure many of us are having difficulty picking just one album in our favorie genres. That said, if most want trades I won't throw a fit about it.

I know it's doubtful you're going to see a Electronica / Techno, or Heavy / Metal pick from me... I wouldn't waste a pick on it personally but what I do plan on is trying to find something that I listen to and appreciate that I can share that I think fits into what I think could fall into that...
I know I gave it a lot of thought and I think I found a very nice recording that I can use for Electronica when I get to that pick. Whether a website or a publication agrees with my label is irregardless to me honestly. It's as Electronica as I can get and I'll hope someone finds something within the recording to appreciate also...
And if I don't own the recording myself, then I'm not selecting it. I'm sharing a peek into my left of center favourite recordings and at the same time getting a glimpse of others. For myself I don't see the point of picking something that I'll never listen to or want to just to fill a box and make someone think I'm more diverse then I really am... I love the blues plain and simple. But I love to hear what others have for those categories and I'm going to try my best to fill it the best I can

Much as I think it would be fun to give Bobblehead more work, I am fine with whatever.
I was going into the draft with two rules.
1) I had to have the album in my collection.
2) I had to own it in LP record form.
So far I am 5 for 5 in category one, and 4 for 5 in category 2.
I will have a great deal of trouble filling all those categories while staying within my own rules; could see some odd picks.
It was released in 2005 in the UK, and the following year in the US. It failed to make any big waves in either area, though her follow up album has been better received in the US/Canada. The critics, however, gave it positive reviews and applauded her for her talent of blending 'everyday sounds' with pop/jazz music.
Ruby Blue (her performing it live)
Ramalama Bang Bang
Night of the Dancing Flame (the dance routine from So You Think you Can Dance, set to the album version of this song)
She has a bit of a bizarre sound in just about all her music, dating back to when she was part of the duo Moloko, also an electronica act that I actually liked somewhat. Her second album, Overpowered, which I almost picked, is a lot more straight forward techno.
I think this might be another 'acquired taste' selection from me.
Thoughts?

Actually, that's something I've been doing, too. I've been wondering about other people, though...
I'm picking things that are part of my collection, but not just in the sense that I downloaded some weird song three years ago and have never listened to it since... I mean like I own the CD and I listen to it often enough to know the music inside and out.
Honestly, I'm not trying to be rude... but some of the selections in this draft have been incredibly obscure. Are these albums that you guys actually own and/or listen to often? I mean, sure it's blasé to say "I like U2" as opposed to say... "Gnarly Muffin Wrenches of Grease Monkey Flying Dewm Saucers" or something...
Actually, I have no clue what my point is. I know I'm an audiophile and I know my tastes are very eclectic. I can go from George Strait to Slayer in the blink of an eye... but I'd say 90% of this draft is stuff I've never heard of before in my life.
Ultimately, though, if you guys actually listen to these selections and consider them part of your active collections, then that's awesome. It's amazing how many bands and artists are out there.
Edit: I just want to make it clear that I'm not trying to be judgmental. For some reason I haven't figured out yet, my written things (posts, emails, etc) always come out way more aggressive sounding than I intend them to be. So, honestly, I'm not judging or trying to be condescending or whatever. I'm really just curious.
I love it EG. I'm always looking for something different and Roisin Murphy works for me.
Cool. Her second album Overpowered, as I said, is a lot more straightfoward techno, but there are some pretty good songs there. Movie Star, Crybaby, Let me know, You know me Better... Lots of good stuff there.
Id like to choose only albums that I own, but theres a couple categories where it may not be possible
for the most part, alot of my selections will be well known
Ive a couple that Im hoping are going to be a little more under the radar, but even then Im not entierly sure

I hardly own any albums/cds, I tend to do the download thing, but I am very familiar with and love the ones that I am picking.
Awesome. I don't know if "validates" is the right word... but knowing that you guys actually listen to and/or own the albums you're picking, makes your picks mean... more...
Does that make sense?
Also...

I hear that. There's a couple categories that are going to be interesting for me. I actually don't like techno at all. Like I can't even listen to it enough to get a taste for it... I don't know how I'm going to pick that category.
The only one of mine that I don't own is my first selection, but I used to own it on tape and I've scouring the Earth looking for it. Pick up in a minute.
