Well, I can honestly say I never saw anything unsavory when working at KFC. Of course, that was 22 years ago. Still, we passed all inspections with flying colors and management took food handling very seriously.
Still not a big fan though.

I have to think mine was an isolated experience. Lets just say there were some very strange people i was working with back then. Then again how they prepair food has changed.

I remember working as a dishwasher at a crappy seafood restaurant. I only worked one shift and quit because the boss was such a jerk. I felt vindicated when the restaurant went out of business a month later.

I did 411 for a winter... it wasn't all that bad, just people are stupid.
Caller: I went to a restaurant last weekend and forgot the name.
Me: Um. Ok.
Caller: CAn you give me the listing?
Me: No. I can't search like that
Caller: Well, it's on 17th Ave.
Me: There are a lot of restaurants on 17th
Caller: I know. Can you list them for me please.
Me: No. Sorry.
Caller proceeds to explain how since I'm 411 I must magically know the name of the restaurant and curses me out.
I really can't believe how rude people are. It blows my mind how many a-holes there are in this world.
Kid prank calls were the best. I had a special number reserved for them.

Parts counter monkey at Crappy Tire in the mid 90's. Worst part of it was filling batteries with acid from the vaccuum pump that was supposed to turn off when it was full but never did so it'd always splash over your burning holes in your clothes. No goggles and a big box of Cow Brand baking soda we'd steal from housewares was the extent of the Health and Safety program there. One particularly bad splash left my pants looking like I took a shotgun blast to the crotch.
Dealing with moron customers pretty much revolved around whatever required the least amount of effort.
"Can you tell me if you have any of these filters for my car?"
"Uhhhh.... I think we sold our last one of those."
"Class 4 hitch for that tent trailer? Sure, why not?"
"Blaupunkt stereos? Yeah, they're pretty awesome"
"Excuse me, where do you keep your...[cut off]"
"No speaky eeengleeesh [throw in weird pointing gestures to talk to the other parts monkey]"
Dalhousie CT was run by the biggest a-holes on the earth at the time, lots of unpaid hours were "required" to be worked.
Meh - $5.75 an hour, you got what you paid for.

You should have been provided with protective gear if your working with battery acid. I would have refused to continue work if acid was burning holes into my clothes.

Giggle. We should have been provided safety equipment, but then again we should have been paid for every hour we worked, and probably should have had some sort of formal training on how to use the pump. Now that I think about it, they did provide goggles but some clown poured acid in them and they were fogged up. So naturally they were never used. (The clown was not me...) The eyewash bottle looked dusty and grungy enough I think I'd grab the Sprite from my lunch to wash out my eye before I used that thing.
At age 17 you really don't give two hoots about safety. It was far easier to do a crapper job than to worry about safety. Hence why every sucker that bought a battery from us got an underfilled one to varying degrees.
You youngsters here... you probably don't remember what it's like when it's actually HARD to get a job...

Wow, you must've had some good luck then. I'm 21, and I've had 2 separate jobs where I've made $6.65/hour (minimum wage).

I live in BC so that might explain the difference in the minimum wage. Now, most people get $10 an hour as a starting salary in BC.

Montana minimum wage is $6.55, going up to $6.90 after Jan. 1.
Washington has the highest min. wage in the U.S. at $8.07.
The worst job I've ever had was working for "banker connection" for Wells Fargo Bank.
I was basically the helpdesk for the bankers in the branches. They would call us if they had questions about certain procedures within the checking/savings side of the banking world.
I didn't mind what I did at all, it was the metrics of the phone system that I hated. You were only allowed a certain amount of time between calls, and you were judged by your average call time, etc. No matter how well you resolved the issue, the time was the predominant factor.
I am a former U.S. Marine, and I'm currently a Firefighter and watching that clock wigged me out more than anything I've had to deal with so far.
