So umm does Layton speak for this coalition or does Dion. Because it sounds like we're going to get statements from both.

No, CBC is waiting too, and complaining about the Liberals' communication problems in the meantime.

1. PM Harper will go to the Governor General tomorrow or Friday and ask her to prorogue parliament until late January 2009.
2. She will agree to do that.
3. Parliament will reconvene in late January 2009 and the Conservatives will put forward a new budget full of all sorts of goodies and spending initiatives to get the economy back on track.
4. The budget will look so good, that it will pass. At least one of the coalition parties will vote in favor of it.
5. Shortly after the budget is passed, at the first opportune moment, one of the coalition parties will initiate a vote of non-confidence.
6. The Conservatives will be defeated by the still in-effect coalition.
7. Harper will then go to the GG and ask her to disolve parliament and call an election.
8. The coalition will go to the GG and say: Don't disolve parliament. We are prepared to form a government.
9. Now Canada's fate is in the hands of the Governor General.
|
If the Harper government gets to the budget with all of these goodies and stimuli and its a good budget, and the coalition defeats it, there will be a pretty big surge of outrage from Canadians, the government will collapse, popular dissension will force the GG to grant an election, and the NDP and Liberal's will get pummeled.

Martin's Liberals did it with the NDP to pass a budget and Harper's Conservatives did it with the Bloc in 2007.

They were just discussing this on QR77.
The details of this coalition are that the Bloq will vote with the coalition on all automatic Confidence votes (budget, throne speech, etc), but will be free to vote as they see fit on all other matters.
For example, Defence matters are not automatic confidence votes. This means the Bloq will have full veto authority on all matters of National Defence (since they need the votes from the Bloq to get anything passed).
The list goes on and on and on.

I never realized how ugly Dion is, and I never even noticed how completely idiotic he looks and sounds, I knew he was dumb, but he looks like such a dork.

So CBC is showing it now? CTV doesn't have it yet
OK I'm watching it now on CBC, does anyone find the great irony that a book called "Hot Air" is in backround?

Man Dion is awful. Whoever on the coalition side thought it was a good idea to give him air-time messed up. He simply does more damage than good when he tries to act like a PM.

CTV is re-airing Harper's speech, this is a complete clusterf***.
Edit- And now they start showing Dion mid-way through his speech. He's gonna be livid that it didn't air properly.

Global is playing it now. He's talking like this is his victory speech.
"Within one week, a new tone will be set." HEY! He said Calgary! Count me in Stephane!

Agree as well. I think I'm more annoyed by that fact that 4 Cabinet seats to the NDP are 4 more than they would ever have gotten if they didn't do this. Conservative-Liberal split would give the governement a more balance perspective, and a way to bridge the West and the East together.

Delivery and such is awful, but I think Dion's doing a better job of setting out how he expects to move forward than Harper did.

CTV didn't get it because CTV is the first people Dion wants to speak last, or was that the last people he wants to see first, no wait ... ah forget it. It probably was just delayed because Gilles vetoed the first take and they had to redo it to get it right.
