This just may be the most ######ed post I've seen in a very long time.

Note, that I am not attacking the poster just the post itself; although... if it smells like a duck, then it's probably not a walrus.

Being unwilling to support a coalition with separatists is "knee-jerk regionalism and irrational fears"?

If that's called being a redneck, I guess I'm okay with that. It's better than being called a traitor.

You're kidding right. So what, the conservative have been holding people hostage to force them to vote conservatives as the democratically elected government. I've never understood the liberal way of thinking. The entitlement to rule liberals and their supporters hold is absolutely amazing. You want to govern, get elected. If you can't, learn how to take it with a little grace.

Elizabeth May is that you. Maybe you can talk about Harper surrounding Parliment with tanks to keep the opposition out.

I dunno. Sounds to me like you're just separating from this discussion.

Oh snap.

GG will probably prorogue Parliament, give it a cooling off period and let the Conservatives at least present a budget, which will then be shot down by the opposition anyway.

I've heard people saying this is the same thing the Conservatives tried a few years ago as the opposition when they signed an agreement with the NDP and Bloc. There are significant differences, however, as I understand it (I may have it wrong, don't think so).

The previous 'agreement' was merely a request to explore the option of Parliament being able to work effectively should the Liberals face a non-confidence vote. It was an expression from the three parties that they would strive to work together under those circumstances. No pre-planned concessions, to patronage in exchange for support, no formal alliances, just a willingness to try to work together.

This coalition is a formal agreement, including pre-determined concessions, ministry posts, and patronage appointments that smell (why does the Green Party leader deserve a senate seat?).

I think it would be a gong show where no one gets what they want, sleezy politics will rule, and the government will be in disarray.

I'd be willing to go back to the polls. I wonder how many NDP and Liberal supporters would like to change their vote now?

Other countries imprison for treason, here we allow treasonous separatists to not only run for public office, we hand them the keys to governmental control.

I don't have time to look through the other train wreck of a thread, but if you are in there advocating that we consider separation in Alberta than this would be rather disingenuous!

Trust me, I'm not. I've made a few (to me) comical wise cracks in that thread, but I am Canadian first - Albertan second.

...although "Alberta" includes Edmonton, so it's probably more like Calgarian second and Albertan third.

In other news... The Leafs won the Cup for the first time since '67!

"Canada was stunned Monday when it was announced that The Stanley Cup will be awarded to the Toronto Maple Leafs, possibly as early as December 6th.
The cup will be stripped from from 2008 playoff champions the Detroit Red Wings and be awarded to the Leafs, who didn't even make the playoffs.
How is this possible, Canadians ask?"

He didn't say he SHOULD resign, he said if he did it would end the crisis. I can see the difference in what he said.

Also, since people don't vote for a PM, how can an individal be given a mandate?

Because he too was elected by his constituents?

Its the exact same argument Stephanie made yesterday in the House of Commons.

Right, a mandate from his constituents, which is no different than any other mandate from any other guy from their constituents.. and he won't lose that in this cause he's still representing his constituency.

Sorry I didn't hear this argument, I can't follow this as close as I'd like to.
