But I don't learn much about the bike, or how to build one if I ever wanted to try.

Picking Guinea Pig, they actually explain what happens to the human body when put in the situations Ryan Stock is placed in, and usually give tips on how not to get into those situations.

I'm cool if both are in the right spots, I could always move GP into Canadian if I need to. Just stating my expectation of the EDUCATION category.
Education is the one category that I haven't had any ideas so far...some clarification on the category would help, I'm sure. There are tons of shows that can be grouped in the same category as American Chopper that a person could say they learn something from, but I always clasified those types of shows as more reality based than anything.

No disrespect to anyone involved, especialy you flash, but this is the part of the draft that i loathe. I joined to have some fun and to see what other peoples viewing choices are. I just don't understand why we have to disect peoples picks in regards to what category they fit into. If someone is able to justify why they put thier pick in a certain category, shouldn't that be enough?

I'm not knocking your pick by any means, Dion, in fact, you picking American Chopper has actually given me some ideas of something I could pick for the Education category! Before you picked that, I had none! I just want to know that it's okay for us to be picking shows like AC as we go forward.

Thing is you're indirectly asking if my pick was okay. Then comes the discussions and the possibility mine is ruled not educational.

That being said i do realise you're not knocking my pick and moreso looking for clarification. Apologies if i suggested otherwise

It's not a exercise in cutting your pick down Dion, I would have taken my pick regardless what the definition was.

But when it's only explained as educational, I may have a different definition than you have. Much like my Kenny vs. Spenny pick. So, I'm cool with it. I could justify why it would be considered educational, but it's not 1,2,3 Contact or anything like that... not that Guinea Pig is... the description of the category is VERY vauge.

I support the pick.

I added a further point in my previous response to you that goes along the lines you are pointing out now. My bad for misreading your previous post

Before our next pick some housekeeping. Please move Fawlty Towers to the Pre-1980 slot. This allows the following.

With huge apologies to MissTeeks:

"Where's the Remote" are pleased to select in the Comedy (Sitcom) category the excellent show

"How I Met Your Mother"

This show is a real grower and is my favourite current sitcom. I enjoy all of the characters and the flashback sequences are a lot of fun. Good show all round.

wiki:

How I Met Your Mother is an American situation comedy that premiered on CBS Broadcasting on September 19, 2005. The show was created by Craig Thomas and Carter Bays. As a framing device, the main character, Ted Mosby, in the year 2030 recounts to his son and daughter the events that led to his meeting their mother, which explains the title and allows for a narration in the past tense. How I Met Your Mother's other main characters are Marshall Eriksen, Robin Scherbatsky, Barney Stinson, and Lily Aldrin. Thomas and Bays drew from their friendship in creating the characters, with Ted based loosely on Bays, and Marshall and Lily based loosely on Thomas and his wife.

And finally, just for MissTeeks:

With my 8th pick in the draft, I select in the category of Reality (elimination) Solitary 2.0.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0490547/

Wow, guess me squeezing my pick in this morning and nearly being late for work didn't accomplish anything at all!

This show probably could've dropped to the last round, but I felt I needed to fill this category NOW, just in case. You see, I hate eliminatrion reality tv. Hate, hate, hate it! American Idol, Survivor, Big Brother, Dancing shows, Amazing Race...I think it all plays to the lowest common denomenator: The need of humans to make fun of others in order to make themselves feel better about themselves. I despise it all!

This show, however, is interesting because it is more about individuals interacting with themselves and their environment, and not other humans. In the initial episode, the contestants are introduced to Val and their own personal environments. Val is the 'computer' operator of the game and is the tormentor and hero of the contestants. Val comes up with twisted ways to test the endurance and mental toughness of the contestants such as sleep deprivation, starvation, temperature changes the list goes on and on.

As the game progresses contestants give up as they can't hack it and eventually one ends up winning. Fascinating stuff to watch actually. There are no 'secret alliances', no backstabbing just people trying to overcome adversity.

"How I Met Your Mother"

That's what happens when you make it your team name! Awesome pick!

My favorite quote of the show came from Robin:

"He used to play hockey and I'm a Canadian. I can't help it. If he were missing some teeth I probably would've already hit that."

And this was one of my favorite parts of the whole series so far:

Team Vandelay Industries is happy to select in the comedy sitcom category...

30 ROCK

Once upon a time there was a live sketch comedy program at NBC called The Girlie Show, and it was good, as far as head writer Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) and ditzy blond star Jenna Maroney (Jane Krakowski) were concerned. Then one day a sinister, egotistical (and very occasionally vulnerable) executive named Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) came along, parachuted in a new, male lead performer and changed the name of the show to TGS With Tracy Jordan

^^Yeah, I hate you, a lot. That was to be my next pick, though honestly, I didn't think it would last and I was right.

Fantastic show. Right up my alley in terms of the type of comedy and writing.

In the Game Show category, Team Legen...wait for it...dary! is happy to select, Wheel of Fortune!

This is always my favorite game show because it doesn't make me feel as stupid as when I watch Jeopardy. It can get a bit annoying at times because most people don't seem to know how to pronounce the letter "N" properly and people are always buying vowels when they shouldn't. That's my biggest pet peeve. If I was going to be on a game show, this would be it. I also enjoy the horrible whitty banter between Pat and Vanna at the end of the show.

IMDB page:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072584/

Random Trivia:

The puzzle board, one of the concepts of "Wheel of Fortune", was devised from the popular game "Hangman".

The first letter Vanna White ever turned on the show was a "T"

The old trilon puzzle board was retired in February 1997 and was replaced with a new one using touch screens.

The bonus round premiered in 1981 on the daytime edition. Originally, contestants chose to play one final puzzle for a grand prize they selected from five on stage. They chose five consonants and a vowel. In 1988, they were spotted five consonants (R,S,T,L,N) and one vowel (E), and chose 3 more consonants and one vowel. In 1989, the prizes were hidden under letters W H E E L, and the contestant picked a letter, winning whatever prize the letter concealed. That changed in 2001, to where contestants spun a mini wheel that selected the prize.
