Given the apathy and the piss-poor standing of our political system (Conservatives included), I don't think the outrage is going to be that great. This forum certainly isn't a representative cross-section.
It's really not that big of a deal. Coalitions are a normal tactic in parliamentary democracies.
I would rather go with the status quo, but there seems to be a huge overreaction over this... Especially the idea that they will run the west into the ground. What's that all about?

And just how much do you think a blank cheque like that is going to cost? The secret deals that had to made to garner that kind of support from the Bloc is going to bankrupt Alberta. And if you believe differently I'm afraid you're being very naive.

I thought that was why the fireman fell out of the tree.
(Because he was stapled to the monkey)

Honestly, the energy industry is getting destroyed right now in Alberta with the price of oil and with the current royalty scheme. What else can the federal government really do?
You can't steal profits if they're already getting hit hard.

Do you think our grandfathers fought for this?
I generally turn a blind eye to politics, but I have to say this is dispicable.

Sit back and watch and learn then.
And I didn't just say they were going to attack just the oil and gas industry did I? I said they were going to bankrupt Alberta. Their raid on Alberta will go far beyond just the oil and gas industry. They'll take all they can get, and then they'll take some more just for punitive measures.

boo you and your logic. Right now the Conservatives are in power, so Alberta's strugles are due to the industry and external economy. But once the lefties are in power, the blame falls squarly on them and their "desire" to destoy Alberta!!

You think this matters? It's all about public perception, and everyone outside of Alberta thinks that Alberta is loaded, and all Harper is doing is helping Alberta.

How exactly will they do that? Do you think they'll implement some sort of NEP? Seriously? How else can they bankrupt Alberta?
I just don't understand. What are these punitive measures you speak of?

Seriously. Farmer Ed did more harm to the oil and gas industry in Alberta then this coalition can ever do to it.

The only thing that they mentioned was a cap and trade system, something that would also need to be worked out with the US. Obviously we need more details, but if it requires American support, I think big oil will do just fine.

I'm not about to recap all that happened in the 1980s, but the 1980s are about to be replayed with a vengence. I'm feeling too disgusted right now to have the stomach to provide a recount of what happened then and what will likely happen now. Just watch and take notes.

I don't understand how these Liberal and NDP losers can go on TV and try to act as though they aren't the biggest scumbags on the planet.
Seeing these jackasses trying to act as though they are doing the "right thing" or doing what is best for Canada is disgusting.
This is an absolutely terrible day for Canada and makes me ashamed to be Canadian.
