Except all of our MLAs are CPC, which is now the Official Opposition in a majority Government. Emailing them will do nothing, since there's nothing they can do.

I think the most important question that has yet to be asked is simple: What exactly was the Bloc promised to go along with this. Duceppe would not have agreed unless there was something substantial in it for him. This is disgusting, the way they are laughing at the democratic process.

Those would be our MPs. Our MLAs are PC, and form the official government of Alberta.

MLAs are provincial politicians, that is who he is suggesting we contact. Not the CPC MPs in Ottawa.

This is outrageous.

I can't believe this is happening. I can't believe most people can't see past the "ZOMG HARPER sUX!121`~~111!!!" and see what the alternative is. I can't believe people think an "economic stimulus" package is the best way forward in this environment. I can't believe that a cost cutting budget is being shot down, and replaced with an immediate 30 billion dollar spending plan with more spending in the future.

I can't believe that we, as Canadians, who always make fun of American politics, and how uneducated most people are, have shown that we are no better, and actually, much much worse.

I just...don't even know what to say.

It is crazy. I always (wrongly) assumed that the current PM would take over as the head of a Coalition Government if it were formed. With that assumption, the provision for a possible Coalition Govt seemed like a good thing to have in our politcal system.

But now, knowing that an unelected man can lead a Coalition Govt (and the country), I cant support the way our Coalition govt works. It just seems undemocratic.

I think the only democratic thing that can be done once a Vote of Nonconfidence passes, is to call another election. Clearly, not ideal, but neither is an unelected person running the country.

It doesnt matter to me what party was running the minority government, and what parties form the coalition. I dont think it is right to replace the PM with someone unelected.

"politics done differently." You got that right, Jack. Stealing power, overthrowing the government, and giving seperatists the balance of power is different.

You mean 38% of the some 54% that actually voted.

Given the apathy and the piss-poor standing of our political system (Conservatives included), I don't think the outrage is going to be that great. This forum certainly isn't a representative cross-section.

It's really not that big of a deal. Coalitions are a normal tactic in parliamentary democracies.

I would rather go with the status quo, but there seems to be a huge overreaction over this... Especially the idea that they will run the west into the ground. What's that all about?

What more does the Bloc need to be promised other than knowing they they basically control everything? EVERY piece of legislation is going to have to throw a bone to Quebec in order to get passed. EVERY ONE.

It might as well be a Bloc majority government.

What a joke.
GM alone has a $5billion shortfall in its pension plan. Any bailout money directed to this shortfall will create no economic stimulus. With Layton involved, you can be certain that this bailout money isn't going to go to efficiencies or retooling, but to bailing out his union buddies in the CAW. So they can collect their gold plated pensions while my dad gets his $9.99 a day from the CPP.

Just to add to the frustration; guess what the popular vote count in 1997 was that gave the Liberals their majority gov't?
