I said this in the Fata's thread but it bears repeating in here.

I finished Mirrors Edge tonight. What a disappointment. Story was crap. Combat was frustrating and crap. When it was good it was really good though. Would have been nice if they had designed it to be a bit more open though.

For a game that is designed around freedom you are really shoehorned into a specific path a lot of the time. I think the inevitable sequel has a lot of potential though. Put together a good story, create a little more diversity in the environments and fix the issues where you would have to repeat the same part over and over and over and over again because your character won't grab onto a goram pole.

With that in mind. The game was an extremely rewarding experience and will be worth a bargain bin purchase when it has dropped down to about 20 dollars. Makes a great rental as well.

One last note. I didn't feel sick once throughout the entire game. I had a bit of a sense of vertigo when I inevitably fell off the clif. But other then that I didn't have any strange reactions like I was expecting.

the combat is crap cause this game isn't about fighting they want you to avoid that route

So can you actually play this game in a way that avoids fighting and shooting? I would just love to be able to run through the game by creatively getting past my enemies and never have to fight or shoot.

You can but I think it gets too frustrating. I did it for about 5 levels and got to a point where I would keep getting nailed by bullets. I decided to just go gung ho and enjoyed it more. For your first playthrough I'd suggest you don't shy away from combat. I'm definitely going to play through again while avoiding fights which I'm sure will be easier since in your first go through you're still learning the skillset and what's possible.

This game just left me feeling like this was more an engine demonstration than an actual game.

It was short and pretty basic... but games that continue to come out (and improve) on that engine should be fantastic.

It's supposed to be a trilogy so everyone go out and buy it.

I didn't really feel that you could avoid combat. They force you to engage in combat at a lot of places. It was quite frustrating. I don't care about the weapons at all, they just should have made the disarms more responsive.

This game is selling poorly so far. A sequel seems unlikely.
