Wii shortage?
So I'm trying to find a Wii console for my son for Christmas, but all stores seem to be sold out. I remember the shortage last year during Christmas, but surely that can't be the case two years in a row? Please tell me I'm wrong...

I think it's part of their marketing campaign or something. They create an illusion of a shortage and then release a large supply just in time for Christmas.

Yes. In recent months there have been stacks of them in many stores.
IH- where have you looked? Have you tried Costco, Wal-Mart, and Superstore? What about odd places like Rogers Video?

They were probably all bought during November/October for Christmas. I own a Wii, and don't get the appeal to it because it is rubbish, but good luck on getting one. Hopefully you can get one for your son. If all else fails there is always eBay, and you could try craigslist, and Kijiji as well.

I am baffled by the Wii shortage. We have had an extra one sitting in our closet for months. Eventually we will probably sell it, seeing as it was technically bought by someone who owes us a wack of $$$.

Shortage and Wii seem to be synonymous terms.
Either you cant find the system, or you cant find the games (the good ones). Anyone seen a Wii fit lately?
If its a marketing strategy, it is a bad one. I am getting tired of having to go on a shopping crusade every time a popular title hits the market. I am sure I am not the only one considering changing to a Xbox or PS3 so I can avoid this frustration.

Thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately I have been down this road before. Someone sees a bunch, but by the time you get there, they have all vanished.
I will try again, but this goose hunt is nothing new with the Wii.

Best Buy at 10am on Friday.
You will get whatever you need. I might take 2 weeks depending on the shipment contents, but everything tends to ship at least twice a month according to my experience.

What would the tax/duty be on shipping one from the States? There is a local store here that has plenty of 'em. I'd be happy to help, if it's cost efficient, what with it being the holidays and all.

The last few months, I've seen Wiis in pretty much every store that sells them, in stock. Is the Christmas season changing it back to them being hard to get?

I can't believe there is still Wii shortages after over 2 years of it launching. It's not like its some sophisticated piece of hardware. There shouldn't be shortages by now. I understand its selling a lot, but realistically if you compare it to that of the PS2's first couple of years, its almost comparable, and I don't remember the PS2 having shortage issues after 2 years of its release.
I gave Nintendo the benefit of the doubt, but if there are shortages again this year, then I'm starting to think they're doing it on purpose to create artificial demand.
