They said on 660 yesterday that some meteor-dude in the States will pay $10,000 for a piece of it. He then went on to say there could be as much as $1,000,000 worth of material out there from this thing. Road trip!

Its a coverup, it wasn't a meteor, the government just wants us to believe it. It was actually a big flaming ball of human poo that was accidentily released from an aurora spy plane on its way to russia.
If that ball of frozen flaming poo falls into the wrong hands it could be devestating for the intelligence community of the United States. I mean imagine if the Ruskies find out that the American's include corn in the pre flight meal, they'll be aiming laser based microwave weapons at the bellies of our brave men and woman pilots in the hope of creating a shootdown via death by pop corn.

Interesting tidbit, I was up around Lac La Biche hunting last week and we saw what we thought was a distress flare and called the RCMP.
They told us it was possibly a meteor but we didn't really believe them.
Then I see this thread and I thought "Wow, I guess it was a meteor".
Now I feel better about not leaving someone in the bush to die.

Cool ... I'm a Battle River boy too, although from a ways upstream on the Alberta side. My brother still lives on the family farm and was outside when it happened. He said he could hear crackling and thought it might have landed just a few miles to the east. Sounds like it might have landed about 50 miles to the east though rather than just a few miles.

One of those "Oh crap, I guess this is it! Knew I should have stolen that Ferrari and driven it to Mexico" moments.
But it would be awesome after you realize it's not the size of Texas and it isn't an ICBM.

Sweet - I'm going to be driving through the Marsden area in a couple of weeks. Actually hit a ditch there this time last year. Looks like I'll be doing some meteor hunting!!
Is the big Flames flag on the acerage on the west end of Lloyd on hwy 16 still kicking around?
