Place your votes now on which photo out of the 3 above that you feel is the winner.

Edit: nm, I guess we only have so many uses of that 'Thanks' button huh? I'm afraid I had to take back a previous Thanks to use it in this round...
I guess I'm both a dethanker and a rethanker. Is there a grace period in thanking??

I just followed your picture's link back to your Flickr account. Wow!
You have a lot of really inspiring photos. I've been so delighted with pictures you've posted on CP, but you have so many more fantastic pics!
I really appreciate your contributions. They make me want to become a much better photographer.

I think this is a good way to be running things, and it's very interesting to see how varied people's tastes are and what pics are winning people over.

Me too. I wish we had some sort of easy comment system like they have on photosig to gain some additional insight into the votes. I'm a big fan of that site for the perspective and teaching it provides.
This is perhaps the most interesting subject of the four as the term "Portrait" in this case has really run the gambit and evolved into "anything with people in it". Perhaps I'm a bit of a purist but I've always defined a portrait similar to this definition I found:
Quote:
Portraits are often simple "head shots" and are not usually overly elaborate or creative. The intent is to show the basic appearance of the person, and occasionally some artistic insight into his or her personality.
|
Using the above many of the shots posted don't fit my definition. Some of them I really like, but I consider them Candid shots. For example the wedding shot BlackEleven posted. Great candid, but not a portrait for me.
Having said that though I think the top 3 choices fit my definition and are all quality shots.
