Got it on my cell just now. I'm a Fido customer, do we all have that in common?

Wow, if someone owns that number they should sell it!
It might fetch more than the $2.750.000 that the 666-6666 got in 2006.

Ya. I get those all the time. I get calls from 123-456-7890 a lot to. And I'm on the Do Not Call list as well. I sometimes wonder if Bell doesn't sell the Do Not Call list to telemarketers. I get fewer telemarketers now that I'm on the list, but I still get them. And it's not just charities, survey agencies and other exempt callers. Putting Bell in charge of the Do Not Call list seemed kind of like putting the fox in charge of the hen house to me.

my buddy messes with me sometimes with his skype phone and he was able to produce fake numbers like these, so I guess this is what the spammers are using...

Bell does sell the list because telemarketers need it to take the numbers off their lists.

do you guys sign up for a lot of stuff like giveaways and junk like that? I get 0 phone calls I don't want. Actually that's not true. The only one that buys me is Scotiabank, but I have to give them my phone number. I'm guess i'm pretty frugal on who I give my number to.

You can tell Scotiabank to add you to their do not call list. Then the only time that they will call you is when/if there is an issue with your account, they won't call to sell you anything.

I think that happens when someone tries to call you on something like Skype and you have calls blocked unless the number is displayed?

We were getting it for a while -- small business institute in Ottawa anyone (who cares about the expense to travel there!!) -- so I did some research. From what I can tell, 000-000-000 is what pops up when you use something like Skype (computer/internet program thing) for phone calls.
Anyway, since the do not call thing has come into affect, and after waiting the ~ month or so it takes to come into affect, we've had no more calls. Knock on wood...

The most common call I get.
I usually say to the automated system "OH BOY A CRUISE!!!" then hang up

I'm with bell and on the do not call list and i got it on my cell the other day. I purposely don't use my cellphone number for any signups or draws for this reason so who knows how they got my number.

Is the DNCL discouraging this at all? Seems like we get just as many calls as we did before the list, and its got to have been 30 days?
