Task Manager help

Perhaps someone can help me with this....

I wanted to close an application earlier and did the alt+ctr+delete to get the task manager. But for some reason, it is only showing the CPU usage % and no other tabs.

I tried looking through a bunch of options on my computer (I'm running XP) and couldn't find anything. I did a search in the help files, but couldn't find anything.

Do you get a message about Task Manager being disabled?

I don't, actually. I just get the CPU usage % chart and nothing else...no tabs etc. So I can't close programs or do a hardboot (is that what it is called?).
