Default XM subscribers - what are your feelings on the merger?

Just curious to know how XM subscribers feel about the new merger. I noticed most of the channels are still Sirius channels with a few of the key top rated XM stations added.

I like the new look as a Sirius subscriber and I am really glad that Faction 28 is still around. Jason Ellis makes me laugh like no other.

Well, I think you see that because you are a Sirius subscriber.

XM is similar to what it was before, having thier own same stations predominantly, with some Sirius channels added, some others merged/rebranded with exsisting XM ones and thus some XM stations moved spots...but the majority of stations and locations are the same as they were last week.

Somewhat of a pain for my presets.

I am sure it will change again and merge in stages, and they'll integrate to make the stations/locations more uniform between Sirius and XM.

A couple of my favorite stations are gone, but I think everyone knows it was inevitable. It's overall, probably net neutral, lose some stations I like, pick up a few new ones but overall if it helps keep satellite radio around then whatever helps.

I haven't listed to local radio for 2 years. Satellite radio is very underrated and should be way more popular than it is. Now that it is in most new cars I bet it will.

Little miffed that I lost Squizz... but meh, whatever... it's all the same. I was almost getting a bit tired of XM anyways so a little change doesn't hurt.

Frankly, I'm just glad my hardware is still useable. Most companies would have jumped at the opportunity to force upgrades on customers.

The thing is, as Canadian XM/Sirius customers, we are just seeing a small trickle down effect of the US merger. In Canada, XM and Sirius are two totally separate companies and from what I have read, have no plans to merge.

That's true they are separate companies from what I've read, but they will have to figure something out. They won't stop the consolidation of channels just because of Canada.

As a former Sirius sub and now an XM sub, I like it.

I moved due to a customer service/ bad receiver issue, and I really missed the Blue Collar comedy channel. It was good to have a channel with the odd swear allowed, but I could still listen to with almost anybody in the car and not feel embarrassed.

Squizz is gone!!?? I am an XM subscriber, but I haven't listened to the radio in months. When I did however, Squizz was my favorite. Is there a similar alternative on XM anymore?

I welcome the addition/change on XM. I was getting seriously bored and was considering canceling it. It's good to have some new channels to listen to.

I feel alright about the change. Some of the new DJs are more insightful now.

I wish I could get NFL play-by-play though.

I picked XM over Sirius because I wanted the NHL channel. While I didn't mind the XM rock stations, I preferred the Sirius ones so that now they've switched XM to Alt Nation, Octane and Lithium and added Faction I'm really happy. I've also noticed that Sirius XM U is more like Left of Center then XMU.

It's like the best of all worlds for me now.

It sucks they took away a lot of the stations I really liked, my subscription ends at the end of December and I won't be renewing it.

Did you try listening to the stations that replaced the stations you previsouly liked? I am sure they didn't cancel any genre without having a suitable replacement.

There is no punk station anymore....

I also enjoyed Ethel (new Ethel isn't nearly as good as it used to be), Lucy, Fred and Squizz. I feel like XM users got the shaft, all this talk about the merger not affected anything was BS and this is all to benefit Sirius in the end. It's like they didn't care, just cut production to save as much money as possible and through up replacements that weren't even close.

I'm going to cancel and perhaps revisit satellite radio in a couple of years, maybe they will have worked it out by then.
