That keystone cops routine at the end of the Chargers game cost me my fantasy game this week!! I was safely up 5 points...he had Steelers D as his last hope. So SD throws it backwards and Polomaulo picks it up for a TD....good grief.
NOO You're ok!!
They took the TD off the board for illegal forward pass.
You won!
My brother had the proline tie and nearly threw the tv out the window!

Looks like the 49ers did learn alot from last week and are gelling under Singletary. This is an old-fashion butt-whuppin.
No they're just playing St. Louis this week.
Hasselbeck returns for the Seahawks and looks like the same useless, clueless QB he was before he was hurt.
Forcing balls into triple coverage.
3 INT's, only ARI gifting some turnovers kept this close..and bad clock management, giving Hasselbeck two shots with the ball under 4 mins....down by 6. A 3 and out and a 1st down INT the result.
Brutal.
Holmgren deserves better.
Edit: Homgren was pretty reflective has said in post game presser that he's going to talk to all the players and have them refocus and re-set goals, for this year, for next year and thier careers, and as its important for these guys and the organizations season this year, next year, and for years down the road, how these guys perform in the last 6 games of this year.
I wouldn't be surprised to see or at least hear of, behind the scenes power shift to Mora now that the season and era is effectively over for Holmgren. Makes some sense. I think you play Hasselbeck and force him to play. I think Mora will come in and punt out the useless Wallace and the unused Frye next year. If Hasslebeck contiues garbage play and a sour puss attitude in the next 6 games, Mora can then better determine if this is the guy he wants to lead (I use that word loosely in Hasselbeck's case) the team for his era of coaching this team, and maybe make his big stamp on this team with a QB change for next season.
IMO, probably he'll be around next year. Draft a QB with a high pick, if you could get a fiery guy like Garcia as a backup that will light a fire under Hasselbeck's butt next year and see how that plays out when he has someone pushing him, and a guy waiting in the wings to take over, and see if he's going to cut the mustard.
Wow, interesting games today, I'm 109-48-1 this year so far in my pool (no spread), hope Washington can pull it off tonight because that will put me in first!
OK, I gotta ask....did anyone see Polamalu's INT at the beginning of the Chargers/Steelers game? UNREAL!
It's not on youtube yet, but if you didn't see it and you have access to a highlight show this evening do yourself a favor!

No idea...none at all. Makes no sense but i do remember this happening years ago too and it was a huge kerfuffel at that time as well.
Ref's blew the call, TD should've counted. Didn't matter to the outcome of the game, but it sure worked out for you. Lots of upset people though as the Steelers didn't cover the spread!
Found this gem from Peter King this morning regarding the Bengals/Eagles tie yesterday.... " Eagles-Bengals Fever! Catch it! Five quarters, 21 punts, 759 punting yards"

No one was more surprised than McNabb that it ended so soon—3 hours, 46 minutes after the opening kickoff. The 10th-year quarterback thought it would keep going until someone scored, just like a playoff game.
Wrong.
“I didn’t know that,” said McNabb, who played a leading role in keeping it tied. “I’ve never been part of a tie. I never even knew it was in the rule book. I was looking forward to getting the opportunity to get out there and try to drive to win the game. But unfortunately with the rules, we settled with a tie.”
Really? How do you play in the NFL for that long and not know the game can end in a tie?

Further, isn't it kind of important to know? Wouldn't it change the way you approach the waning moments of the OT period?
Holy cow, he should've never admitted that and Andy Reid should give his head a shake for not having his team leader in desperation mode.
At this point for the Eagles, a tie is a loss.

What's worse is that he thought the tie rule applied in the post season as well. He wondered aloud what the NFL would do should a playoff game, or heaven forbid, the Super Bowl end in a tie...

But why wouldn't he? Seriously shows how flawed this sort of system is IMO. Games can end one way in the regular season, but not the same way in the playoffs. Its ridiculous. (Not exonerating McNabb from knowing to begin with at all but as he said, he has never played in a tie game starting in Pop Warner)
I heard this suggested last week as a way to play OT (as the current system sucks, coin flip winner wins almost 75% of the games).
Team A starts at the 25 yd line, then Team B....you can make 1st downs, but you cannot kick field goals, you must score a TD or turn it over. First team to score a TD with an equal amount of opportunities wins. Wouldn't likely take as long as playing 15 minutes of tied football as the current system dictates, you would have a winner every game, and it wouldnt be a goofy one on one thing like hockey.
Its the same thing Selig got raked over the coals for during that All-Star game fiasco...and rightfully so. This is one area Goodell will have completely changed by the start of next season....along with an extra 2 regular season games and 2 less exhibition games.

Agreed...I have no idea why they would of thought a fumbled lateral should be any different than a fumbled run or catch or hand off or snap.
Pure stupidity and that ref WILL be disciplined as it made the bookies in Vegas profit to the tune of 65 MILLION dollars. I have no doubt that there was nothing untowards going on with the referee in question, but the optics are brutal for a league trying to change their perception about gambling and off-field issues.

The way I read it - the refs thought the pass from LT was an illegal forward pass, and decided that the play ended right there.
But the fact is that even if it was illegal, it is not a penalty that stops the play so the result of the play should count as the Steelers could simply decline the penalty.

HOCKEY!
Hockey can end one way in regular season and another way in the playoffs.
That touchdown idea is interesting but it could make games very long.
I don't like the college football system cause by the time it gets to the 3rd overtime it gets pretty stupid.
I'm glad that Phi-Cin game ended in a tie. No one wanted to extend more of that crap I saw a stat that there were nearly 1000 yards of punting in the game.
A ref can't be disciplined for something that effected Vegas. Vegas sets a line and people bet on it right? We can't be worrying about what's happening in Vegas everytime we watch a game.

Not sure why it would take any longer than a 15 minute quarter with timeouts and tv ad timeouts.

Agreed...especially because they count the stats the same way they do during the game. Its dumber than dumb.

No he cant...he WILL be disciplined because he blew the call though. And because of that call it became way more high profile because of the Vegas effect.
OPTICS!!!

For the number of times games end in a tie, I don't mind it.
The only way I would change NFL OT is to allow each offense to get the ball at least once. If a team wins the coin flip and marches down the field for a FG, they kick off like normal and the other team gets a shot. If each team has had the ball, then it is sudden death.

Sorry but my Cowboys had to get back on track. If you call that getting back on track --well at least it was a win.

What if nobody scores a touchdown? Ever?
Theoretically possible...higly improbable.
Same with OT for hockey playoffs...sure every year there is that one game that goes 3 OT's maybe more, but in most cases, the thing ends within the first 20 minutes. In theiry though they could last forever.
With the NFL...tie games are so rare it would be worth it for when this happened. Eventually one team will make the big gaffe and its game over.

It was an interesting game in that with the Romo return, you could tell they played with a bit more juice/mojo whatever you want to call it.
That being said though....I thought the Skins were just awful, especially Campbell, and yet they held the 'boys to 14. Im still not sure if it was Dallas being better than Washington, or Washington not being as good as they have been.
