Default Who's the new weirdo mayor of Vancouver??

Just saw on the news that Vancouver elected a new mayor. They show his victory speech and he comes running out onto the stage dancing like a complete tool and then proceeds to find the youngest boy and girl on stage and attempt to give them both a kiss. The 14ish year old boy dodges his gaytack, but the similarly aged girl is powerless against his creepyness.

Could there be a more pedophile looking mayor?

Did I hear correctly - is he a member of the 'Vision' party??

I wonder how big their "compound" is?

Gregor Robertson is a huge upgrade from the NPA that ruled the city for the last decade. His celebration was probably a little too giddy, but he will make a good mayor. Was a popular MLA in the BC legislature for many years.

And Vancouver’s mayor-elect, Gregor Robertson, wants to end street homelessness in our city by 2015.

When I think of "Gregor", I think of that turncoat in the movie Ronin. This guy seems just as shifty as the character in that (great) movie.

Funny how this guy freeloaded off the Sky Train twice and then didn't want to pay the tickets, vowing during the campaign to fight it before he pretty much realized he should be paying it. Sounds like a real stand up guy.

Eliminate homelessness out there in 7 years? Good luck with that.

I am sure he'll be happily relishing the spotlight in 16 months as mayor of the Olympic city, thus likely the reason for his akward dance.

Gregor makes me think of Mr. McGregor from The Tale of Peter Rabbit. That guy was a real ass.

Ending homelessness by 2015? Does he understand homelessness? I'm not saying that isn't something to work towards, just that it comes off as absolutely impossibly ... just a tad. Good on him for trying, but I'm generally weary of people who make outlandish claims like that.

He also said Vancouver will be "The Greenest City in the World". They better start ordering some green paint.

We can throw in some Alderman and the Rob Lowe to sweaten the Pot.

Though the trade makes as much sense to Vancover as trading Luongo for a Bag of pucks. I would though trade Bronco for a Bag of pucks

I'm pretty sure you mean Victoria. And being from a province that is responsible for 40% of Canadas entire carbon footprint, I wouldn't throw stones.

More like the reddest city in the world... the 2010 Winter Olympics are starting to look a lot more like the money sucking Montreal Olympics. They had to guarantee another $100 million loan to the developers of the Millenium Olympic Village, and now the city is on the hook for $500 million and some say they might not see that money back. This is on top of the cost overruns on other projects.

Not to mention the $100 million was given without telling the public

I was talking about East Hastings with Dr. Frank Plummer, National Director of the National Microbiology Lab and Public Health Agency of Canada. He's one of the top global experts on HIV transmission, prevention, and a lot of other things.

He said the area is basically so saturated with disease and addiction that it is impossible to clean up. Just no way to prevent or end anything in that area.
