This is slightly off topic but:

How the heck can anyone play FPS games with controller? I tried playing some game at my brother's house on the PS3 and it was terrible.

There's no way I'd ever play call of duty with anything other than a mouse and keyboard. Can you get that type of interface for the PS3 or 360?

I've been playing FPS on the PC for a long time myself and all it takes is time and getting adjusted. It sucks (hard) at first, with the terrible accuracy and what seems like slow turning, but eventually you get used to it.

The PS3 allows you to plug in any USB (or bluetooth) device and utilize it in the games as long as the developer has coded in support for it. As far as my limited searching has dug up this only applies to Unreal Tournament 3.

Also, this is one peripheral that I know of that you might be interested in (there could be more)

http://www.splitfish.com/?uid=4nkpfqinh2cvv3t0

On the Xbox 360 you will have to use the standard controller for all games unless a licensed peripheral is created. I play most of my FPS games on the 360 and have since gotten used to the different style of playing.

You get used to it after a while. I'll only buy a console FPS if you cant get it on PC though. I just got Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway and have FarCry 2, Fallout 3, and Call of Duty: World at War on the way and all are PC versions.

I used to do all my gaming on a console so i didn't know any different. I wasn't into FPS much and then I found the Medal of Honor (Frontlines and Rising Sun) games and I enjoyed them so much that I bought a gaming worthy PC and played Medal of Honor on PC. It only took me a few seconds to realize that FPS is not for console controllers. I've tried to go back and play a couple FPS games on the console but I just don't like the control.

I'm so used to console controls that I really don't mind the fps games. I find the Call of Duty games tend to control the best whereas some are really hit and miss. I do agree that nothing is more accurate and fluid than a mouse/keyboard combo, but I've never liked gaming with a keyboard. If I can't sit on a giant couch in pajamas then I don't want to play a game. My computers have never been integrated with my tv, they've always been in an office which just isn't an ideal gaming environment for me.

Jayems the WaW beta expired this morning at 4 in the morning so that could be the reason.... there was a note on the opening screen of the beta yesterday... it comes out tomorrow so i guess thats why they shut it down

yeah, i actually just found that out... and, I replaced my NHL09, even against the 10 EB games employees trying to get me to clear the cache.

EB: "Clear your cache is all you have to do"
ME: "Done that a million times, doesn't work"
EB: "Download the new patch, supposed to fix it"
ME: "New patch isn't out yet"
EB: "Oh."
ME: "Yeah."
EB: "Here's your replacement."

Now, to see if it works or not. i still have 1 trick left up my sleeve, I bought a DVD lens cleaner scrubber thing. Apparently, that should work.

I thought it was a software issue and not the disc? I've had the same problem two years in a row with NHL 08/09. No problem with any other games.

Sucks to live in Lethbridge if you wanted to get the game today. I went to Future Shop but they are closed until next week as they are moving locations. So I went to the mall and the guy at GameStop told me that they aren't allowed to sell new release material on holidays. I commented on what a lame policy that was and he told me that it is a Canadian law. I highly doubt it, and won't take my business to them anyway.

So I went to EB Games and they said that they'll be getting it later in the day but I can't buy a copy if I haven't pre-purchased it. So I asked if they're all sold out, and he said no, they'll plenty but you can only pre-purchase because they need to make sure they have enough copies. He couldn't tell me why I needed to pre-purchase a couple of hours before they get their shipment when they have enough copies for pre-purchased people and walk up sales.

I then went to a Staples, who didn't have it on the shelf and didn't have any staff around to talk to. Then I stopped at London Drugs who won't get their shipment until tomorrow and then Wal-Mart who had no clue what I was talking about (not very surprising).

I was so excited to get and play the game today, now I have to wait a day to purchase it, only I'm too busy to play the game until next week. ARGH!!!!

bump!

Anybody play it yet? I picked up my copy at lunch. I'm counting down the minutes until I can go home, look after the kids, have supper, play with the kids, put the kids to bed and then FINALLY play the game.

I would say it's not as good a single player experience as CoD4 was.. fun so far but it feels like a generic WW2 Call of Duty, nothing extra special that CoD4 had that made it that much better than the rest of the games out there.

I'd have to agree with you photon. The single player mode doesn't do much to separate it from the other WWII games, but I do enjoy it so far. I haven't played multi-player yet. Probably not until the weekend now.

Not gonna play the multiplayer.. finished the single player and no change, an interesting diversion, but nothing special.
