In the category "World", Watching Through the Static chooses Red Dwarf
Spaceships 3 million years in the future, a crewman who spent that time in suspended animation, his pregnant cat who has in the intevening years evolved, a holographic representation of the bunkmate, and a ship with a unique sense of humour, and an insecure robot all come together in this gem.
Personally, I prefer the early episodes. And if you don;t like it, feel free to SMEG OFF.

It’s cold outside, there’s no kind of atmosphere,
I’m all along, more or less.
Let me fly, far away from here,
Fun, fun, fun, in the sun, sun, sun.
I want to lie, shipwrecked and comatose,
Drinking fresh mango juice.
Goldfish shoals, nibbling at my toes,
Fun, fun, fun, in the sun, sun, sun,
Fun, fun, fun, in the sun, sun, sun.

Back in the day, she was my favourite tv girl who was my age (although IMDB says she's 5 years older than me, but that doesn't make sense unless she was a horribly underdeveloped 14 year-old when the show started).

Carp! I almost took RD as my Sci-Fi pick in Round 2. I had my page written up and everything then decided to go with Star Trek at the last second. Awesome pick Bobblehead.
Location: A simple man leading a complicated life....

Might have check with Girly as far as eligibility there- when I drew up the list of genres, my intention for Comedy (Sitcom) was obviously that it HAD to be a sitcom, and that Comedy (Open) could be ANY comedy.
But I remember Girly stating that Comedy (Open) could NOT be a sitcom. Don't know if we need to get overly technical or picky, but I guess we probably should get a ruling so we can maintain the standard going forward. I figured there were plenty of sitcoms, and if you wanted to pick one for each of the comedy categories, go for it. Leaves more of the wacky/variety type comedies for the rest of us. But I don't really think it matters much either way.
Good pick though, had that in my top ten for the sitcom category. Was a favorite of mine as a little guy.
With a the new name of team Pow! Right in the Kisser! we select in the Sci-fi/ Fantasy category, one of my childhood favorites. Well, actually my absolute childhood favorite. Dragon Ball Z

Comedy (Open) cannot be a sitcom.

With our 3rd round pick, Team TV Guide is proud to select Project Runway, in the Reality Series (Elimination) category.
A truely enjoyable guilty pleasure, we watch each week to see what near-to-impossible tasks the designers are given and what hideous or occasionnally devine fashion is created. All the while we wait to hear the judges deliberate and then see Heidi announce in her cool German voice who is "out".
Damn Jerzee, that was going to be my pick! I love that show!
My pick is going to be quick, I am terribly sick right now, so Team Idiot box is proud to stop vomitting long enough to select in the category of reality elimination So you think you can Dance, the american one which is actually pretty decent, not the Canadian one with the irritating Leah Miller.
With apologies in advance to DFF, The Don Lapre Appreciation Society selects in the category of Drama, Twin Peaks
Absolutely my favorite TV series of all time across all genres. Other than a couple of miniseries in the 1970s (which I will not name yet), David Lynch & Mark Frost's Twin Peaks created arguably the greatest storm of buzz, publicity and press coverage in television history.
I'll write more tomorrow when I'm not so tired. But here is where I explain where my CP name comes from:
Windom Earle (character) (IMDB)
Earle is a psychopathic ex FBI agent who went insane after a violent tragedy in
Pittsburgh, involving Agent Cooper. In the 1970's he was assigned to the government
top secret research procedure called Project Blue Book. He discovered something of
significant importance, so much so that he attempted to withhold information from his
superiors. He is an egotistical, mad genius of a criminal whose insane, dangerous
puzzles baffle and frighten the residents of Twin Peaks.
