I've heard this is an excellent film too. Putting it on my ever-lengthening list.
And by picking this, HD, you've helped me decide on my next Wildcard pick. You'll see what I mean when it comes...
This could be bad for my next pick depending on what aspect of Hal's sparked you to decide on yours.

With our 18th selection in the CP Movie Draft, after having traded our previous Action movie, Direct2Video would like to select Spider-Man 2 to fill the now-vacant Action category.

The story begins two years from where the previous film ends, and Peter Parker is finding his double life increasingly difficult. Precariously struggling to balance his crime-fighting duties with the demands of his normal life, Peter often finds his personal life taking a back seat. He loses a job, faces financial difficulties, and struggles to maintain his physics studies at Columbia University. Moreover, he has become estranged from both love interest Mary Jane and best friend Harry Osborn, and Aunt May is threatened with foreclosure.
best spider-man movie and was the best superhero movie before Dark Knight came on the scene. Too bad it was followed up by such a dud. Here's hoping the do better on 4 and 5. IMO James Franco is one of the best young actors. I think he is on his way to a career of awards. He is the one bright spot of Spiderman 3
EDIT: Was thinking about taking it for my SCi-Fi pick but forgot and chose Sphere instead. Kinda wish I hadnt forgot
This could be bad for me, considering you have your two picks coming up before I do!
But really, I don't think what I have in mind is on anyone's radar. I would be very surprised if it is.
Given your last 4 choices, I'm not so sure!
Totally forgot you were the other turn man!

The film is narrated by a small-time criminal, Harry Lockhart (Robert Downey Jr.). He is self-aware and talks to the audience at various times through the movie.
Running away from police after a botched robbery, Harry runs into a movie audition to escape and, ironically, impresses the producers. He is brought to Hollywood, where he meets homosexual private-eye "Gay" Perry von Shrike (Val Kilmer), who is enlisted to help Harry prepare for his role in the movie.
Harry is introduced to Hollywood parties and encounters his dream-girl, Harmony Lane (Michelle Monaghan); a girl Harry has known since childhood. The two childhood friends leave for Harry's apartment, but budding romance is squelched when Harry proceeds to drunkenly have sex with Harmony's friend.
Following around Perry at his job, Harry stumbles upon evidence of a complicated murder mystery eerily similar to the detective stories which Harry and Harmony grew up reading. The three team up to solve the mystery and encounter a series of seemingly nonsensical problems.
That's What She Said would like to call to the podium a true cinema classic - the zany yet endearing Bringing Up Baby, in the Black & White category. It was one of those screwball comedies from the 30's that didn't need to make sense, it worked because the characters draw you in - no matter how implausible the story becomes.
The story stars Susan (Katherine Hepburn) and David (Cary Grant) - two people who you would never put together but who come together out of determination (Susan's), necessity (David's) and luck. David is a paleontologist about to marry a fellow scientist, looking to bring in a grant to his museum and desperately seeking the final bone to finish putting together a Brontosaurus skeleton that he has worked on for the last four years. Susan meets David, and believing he's a zoologist rather than a paleontologist, pretty much stalks him to get him to come home with her and help her deal with Baby - a tame leopard sent by her brother as a gift. In all the action, Susan decides she loves David and does her best to keep him with her and away from his fiancee. Hijinks ensue when the bone is found (& lost), a wild leopard is mistaken for Baby and a sheriff claps them all in jail because he knows something sneaky is going on. If you have a chance, check it out on TMC or rent it some night when you want a fun, fluffy movie to eat popcorn in front of!
I had heard of the movie before, but didn't know what it was about. That description has me sold on it. Sounds like it has potential.
I don't think you'll regret it Elle, it really is one of those cute old movies that are perfect when you aren't in the mood for something intense or "modern" (read: graphic in a variety of ways). I look forward to your review!
I'll have to find it first. I tend to have trouble finding classic films around here. It took me awhile before I finally got a copy of Vertigo and Rebel without a Cause. Most places don't carry a huge selection of oldies.
Itse gets another boot to the behind for coming online, posting in the Presidential thread and not making his movie pick.
Sorry, I'm short of picks and I can't seem to find the time to think about this. Guess that means I'll have to go for an easy one:
for our 18th round pick, team Selfmade Heroes picks Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens (aka Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror aka Nosferatu) (1922) in the Black & White category.
It's not one of my favourites, but I did enjoy quite a bit and it's a great classic which deserves to get picked.
A fan trailer:
A longer bit:
Once again I looked for someone (Coventry this time) else from IMDB to put it the way I would:
"As I'm sure it is the case for many cinema fans, my respect and admiration towards this production widely excels the enjoyment I had while watching it. "Nosferatu" is a milestone from every possible viewpoint and it's one of those very few movies I think everybody should view at least once (although it actually requires repeated viewings…) It is the very first version of Bram Stoker's legendary vampire tale and easily the most copied film in the history of cinema. Shot by F.W. Murnau (who also made the equally essential titles "Faust" and "Der Januskopf") and made unforgettable by Max Schreck in his performance as the Count. Even though this film is over 80 years old, Schreck's image is still as nightmarish as it can be. The fact that this film is still very powerful therefore almost entirely depends on his unworldly character. "Nosferatu" is beautiful poetry, difficult to watch at times, but very rewarding. The sexual undertones as well as the shock-aspects have surely dated by now, but they're still present, and – as I mentioned before – they only increase my respect for Murnau and his crew. A definite must see, just make sure you're in the right mood. "
For our latest pick, we'll delve into the Studio system gold mine and pick out the seminal Douglas Sirk melodramas of the 50s... Scathing critique of America and the dominant form of capitalism that was (in Sirk's view anyway) eating away at the soul of the country, dressed up and disguised as "unintelligent" soap opera... Written on the Wind! We'll slot this one into Wildcard #3 for now, but that may change
Stellar performances from a truly remarkable cast: Rock Hudson, Lauren Bacall, Robert Stack, Dorothy Malone all go for home runs and all of them succeed. Dismissed upon its release as being too over-the-top and exaggerated, most critics (and viewers) didn't realize that was the whole point. By contrasting the plasticized beauty of the world inhabited by the super-rich, elite main characters with their ugly behaviour, Sirk proved to fire a shot across the bow to the consumptive elites of America - and the class system that enabled them - that didn't even register. It wasn't until years later that critics and film historians began to peel back the surface layers of this (and all other) Sirkian melodramas, revealing all the complex techniques of one of the masters of the "golden age".

Spidey 2 is a huge steal this late in draft. Great pick Flamesguy
Team Pineapple Express is proud to select Lucky Number Slevin as one of its wildcard picks. No frills today because Team Pineapple Express babysat two insanely rambunctious little boys all weekend and needs to sleep.
Ok, I had a little nap, a little dinner. I will update the write up on this flick. It stars Josh Hartnett (who looks quite hot in this flick), Bruce Willis, Ben Kingsley, Morgan Freeman, and Lucy Liu. I wanted to see it in the theatre, I heard many glowing reviews, but missed out and saw it on DVD. For me, it completely lived up to expectations. A lot of great writing in this one, good acting, good cast, quite funny and quirky in parts.
It was really well done.

Reason: update write up for the movie
Team Clint Eastwood would like to submit - for the approval of the other GMs and league commissioner - a request for change to the name of our team. Box office sales have been sluggish for a team named after a guy whose movies do not appear on our roster (there was a point to this originally but... I have decided, ah, fack it). Team owners feel this change is necessary to the continued viability of our market.
Proposal
Old team name: Team Clint Eastwood
New team name: Sequel: Part 2
I think it's really clever. At least, more clever than Clint Eastwood.
