For those of you offended, did you feel the same way about all of the sexist comments on Belinda Stronach?
She didn't seem to get the same defense as a Liberal leaving the Conservatives.

Please...
Stronach openly used and manipulated people in both parties for her own political gain. Besides... your comment is useless anyway. You're just trying to incite guilt without actually trying to address the actual issue.

I wasn't aware that Stronach was openly degraded by a porn producer like this.

You were expecting something classier? Why?
At the end of the day, people have to take this for what it is, its nice to know that elected public officials can still find work in the private sector in the hour of their most crushing defeat.
Its also encouraging to know that the porn industry is johnny-on-the-spot as far as prevailing 'ahead of the curve' markets are concerned.
I can see the marketing slogans now:
"Becoming President didnt work out for you? Give porn a try..."
For people who are essentially abject failures in the public eye, they might as well cover both extreme ends of the failure spectrum.

The McCain camp could have chosen a more credible running mate in someone like Olympia Snowe, the Senator from Maine, or Kay Bailey Hutchison, the Senator from Texas. They created this mess by choosing the inexperienced Palin as McCain's running mate, making her eye appeal the only logical reason for her appointment.

How is this anymore sexist than porn in general? Just because she ran for public office means we can't ask he to do porn? What's next, 'Oh she's an actress, it'd be totally degrading if we asked her to pose for Playboy.'

It would be too obvious to suggest that both 'extreme ends' be uncovered...

Thanks for putting words in my mouth, but I'll speak for myself now.
I never said it was 'okay' for her to get a porn offer, nor have I said it is 'not okay'. I never offered an opinion on it.
All I said was that hard to defend a postion such as:
"It's the media and voters who made those sexist photoshops and degrading pictures turning her into some beauty queen VP."
when she did the things I said in my previous post.

I'm completely lost as to where the outrage is here.
- Are we outraged at the pornographer for making an offer that he thought would help his business? Even given the extreme slim chance of succeeding, Capone has his name in the news and is getting free publicity. Good taste has no place in free market capitalism.
- Are we outraged at American society that women get offers like this and men do not? Is it "sexist" that porn targeted to men sells far better than porn targeted to women? Businesses supply that for which there is a demand for. Again, good taste has no place in free market capitalism.

Pornography was the only element of the campaign against sexism that the conservative right ever picked up on. They used it as the justification for a campaign against pornography that was undertaken by right leaning governments in the 1980s. All pornography is sexist only in the same way that " all sex is rape."
In regards to sexism, if Republicans are REALLY concerned about the plight of American women, they should campaign for better maternity and childcare benefits... oh yah, I forgot, those guys think a woman's place is in the home. Baking cookies.

Wow. Is all I can say to describe my feelings on the general sentiment of this thread. What is wrong with you people? An attractive women, in the public eye with great name recognition was made an offer by a very shrewd and calculating businessman which would have allowed her to capitalize on her 10 minutes of fame and set her and her family up for the rest of their lives. Sorry but that is not "sexist", thats the American way.
People get to hung up on things like this; if you do not like, agree with or watch Porn, fine good for you. If you think Porn in morally wrong and should be outlawed until the end of time - again, fine whatever floats your boat. But to now say that Porn IS wrong and IS sexist, because you yourself (along with a certain cross section of society) find Porn distasteful, and against your personal belief system is inane. I call big time BS on that. I personally do not have a problem with Porn in general as an art form and think it can be done in a very tasteful and respectful manner that degrades no one in the process and feel I am entitles to my own opinion on that matter. If you don't agree with me thats fine, doesn't make you correct though thats what has to be understood here.
Thanks for your opinions though guys (and gals), but personally I dont agree. This offer is not "sexist", its absurd to even say it is. Have there been other things done by (presumably) Obama supporters on the campaign trail that may have been portrayed as sexist? Yep. Does that have anything to do with a legitimate business man making a legitimate offer for the good of his business? Hell no. Lay off the guy.....and lay off Porn!

Yeah i dont get the whole "this is sexist" thing at all. Unless ALL porn is sexist of course. I mean women make WAY more as porn actresses than do their male conterparts. Famous women make even more than that when they shed their clothes and/or go to having sex on tape
Palin is now a famous woman.
Someone was looking to capitalize on her fame...and the fact she is attractive enough to be part of a big selling video/film.
This is merely the business of pornography. Its not like she wasn't offered a bunch of money for her participation and she is an adult that can agree or not to the offer. Where is the "degradation" there?

As if this guy has $2,000,000 to offer up, and as if she's going to take the offer, it's a PR stunt.
