FS: 2008 BMW 135i Coupe
NOW SOLD
So here it is... BMW needs $47,500 to pay it off. So that's what I'm selling it for, less $1000, and throwing in unused wheels and performance winter tires. It's in literally perfect condition and was babied. Perfect for someone looking for one of these, and wants to avoid GST while being ready for winter. Make no mistake.. I love this car and it's going to be painful to part with it.

Remember all the games she missed because she was "out of town" and "busy"? Looks like she was secretly selling coke.

My husband got a BMW 128i (which is almost the same car..same thing except for the turbo) for US $34,000 just a month ago and I dont remember the 135i being THAT much more, maybe 5000. 54,000 new..wowza Canadian car prices are expensive!

(Sorry for the hi-jack)
Oh yeah cars are much cheaper down here. When I go home when the snow is gone, my parents told me to buy a car down here and drive it home for them. Thats probably why every other car down here is a BMW, especially in Santa Clara.
$35k eh? Maybe I'll get one of those when I get a job.

You've only been here how long and you already want to avoid the snow? It has barely been 3 months that you've moved to San Jose!
wow I can't believe the price difference. If you transport an American sold car to Canada, is there a lot of paperwork/taxes you have to take care of?
Back on topic..good luck selling the car, its an AMAZING vehicle.

With BMW's, because they are imported from outside NAFTA, have additional duty at the border no?
Makes more sense to get a NAFTA-car no? (Which does include many 'imports' that are made domestically now.)
Maybe it is just $1000 or something?

This is correct, with any cars that are not built in Canada, US, or the Mexico, an additional duty is charged, and dependent on the country that it is coming from even if it is brought from the US.
Truthfully though, I would personally only purchase a car made in Japan or Germany, I wouldn't want a Japanese or German branded car that was built in a NAFTA country. I know... I'm contributing to the failure of the auto industry in our country, but frankly, I want a car that all I need to do is regular maintenance , and with the German and Japanese cars that I've had, that is all I've ever had to do.
The one American car I had, while cheap to fix, it still needed to be fixed for simple quality problems that simply should not happen.

The nice thing about the BMW is they have a solid warranty and all routine maintenance is included. My car tells me when to change the oil and the dealership takes care of it in a snap. I haven't had to use the warranty as I've had no problems with it...except programming my key to set my seat position, but I chalk that up to user error.

I brought a Z4 up from the US, after all that's said and done, I ended up saving 8k on the ticket price even after import fees and what not.
