I noticed that the Orioles released Loewen yesterday. He had some elbow issues, but is he a worthy potential reclaimation project for a team like the Jays? If Burnett is gone and with Marcum out, seems like he might be worth like a minor league try out deal if he can still somewhat pitch.

He's not a pitcher anymore he announced earlier in the year he was dropping being a pitcher and was going to try to be an Outfielder or a 1st basemen

Looks like you know what you are talking about there Slvanfan .

http://www.tsn.ca/mlb/story/?id=2536...=topStory_main

The Toronto Blue Jays have signed 1B/OF Adam Loewen to a minor-league contract.

A former pitcher, Loewen will be making the transformation to position player after suffering recurring stress fractures in his pitching elbow the last two seasons.

The Blue Jays also claimed righthanded pitcher Bryan Bullington off waivers from the Cleveland Indians.

To make room on the roster, outfielder Kevin Mench was designated for assignment.

Gozer should be "happy" with the Bullington Claim as well

Apparently Tex is from there too, and he has been rumored as well. No way they pay both...

Ha! If I was Eklund I'd still expect to get 100% credit for it, even if my reasoning was 100% dead wrong and expect people to pay $15 a month to read all the BS I spew. Although I was going to say, after Gravitykiller's post that the Jays could use a power hitting 1B/OF in their lineup too.

Jays interested in Mike Jacobs. In his third full season with the Marlins, the lefty hitting first baseman will turn 28 on Thursday. In 2008, Jacobs belted a career-high 32 home runs, while driving in 93 runs.

Anyone know the guy?

I know that DJF said his OPS+ was 1 point lower than Alex Rios.

But still, 32 HRs is better than any option the jays have at DH.

If we lose Burnett, I hope they push hard for Sabathia.

I hope not. It will be a mistake. The guy had a great year, and he's going to cash in big time, but he is an injury prone veteran who still is in the 4.00 area for his ERA.

If you're going to spend big time money to get a pitcher, might as well spend it on a guy who will give you bang for your buck. That guy is not A.J Burnett.

Zaun has opted for free agency. No surprise there, I don't think.
http://www.globesports.com/servlet/s...l_gam_mostview

<rant> The title of the story is "Zaun opts for free agency", but only the first 2 sentences are about Zaun. 90% of the rest of the article is about Burnett. While I agree Burnette is a bigger story, don't misrepresent what the article is going to be about.</rant>

For those that listen to prime time... Jeff Blair was on the show the other day and "speculated" that the Jays are actively trying to move Lyle Overbay. Blair said the Jays are trying to move him before the Free agency period starts..

According to TSN, AJ is "giving the Jays more time to extend him", but his agent says "they are not close". How many more Limo Rides for the misses will it take?

AJ I am of two minds of. Really I don't think he is worth the money or the attention he gets. He had a nice run at the end, but really his numbers...

http://ca.sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/6314

Don't get me wrong, he's a "good" pitcher, I'm just not sure he is nearly as good as people hype him up to be.

With that in mind, I would let him go and find someone to replace him with. However, I doubt that we could find a replacement, so I go to the idea of keeping him because its better than what we would have...

This would be good if they can upgrade on him. I'm a big fan of Lyle, but the past year or 2 he has been so-so....I don't know.
