GS, if you don't mind, I'm copying your excellent rules here:
24 teams and 20 categories.
Trades! you can make trades but the it has to be zero-sum since every team needs 20 albums. For example Team A can trade the 1st and 40th pick to Team B for the 5th and 6th pick. Even after you have selected a shows you can trade. There is no trade deadline however there will be no trades allowed after the very last pick. Both parties must send the trade details to me.
Make use of PMs and the chatroom to negotiate.
Switching!
At any time you can switch an album from one category to another if it qualifies for it.
--
When you are selecting please state in BOLD letters who you are selecting and in what category.
example: With the 1st overall pick of the draft, GirlySport's In-Box selects ......... in the Pop category.
And you can use a paragraph to state your case of why you made this selection and convince everyone why this album was great. You've seen how it's been done in the other drafts. We're all here to learn!
--
Ass-kickin'!: When it's your turn you have 24 hours to select. After 24 hours the draft will continue on until you come back and pick. Your name will have brackets around it in the thread title. If your turn is coming up and you are away, please send 3 choices to me and I will select for you.
- If you see a name in the thread title with a * beside it, that means they have submitted their pick to the commish.
That's pretty much it. Any questions you can ask in here or PM me...
Posting suggestions:
Try and post a picture of an album cover, and the track list. Provide your review, or link to a critic's review. I think we are all keen to learn about albums that are special to you, and might be unknown by a lot of people. Embed 2-3 youtube videos if possible:
Holy cow! I was expecting my usual middle-of-the-pack-or-down-at-the-bottom spot.
Hmmm... Gimme a few minutes to narrow my list down here.
Edit: This is nuts. There are lots of potential first overall picks. The trick is to not cop out and just pick the best-selling album of all time, I think it's more important to pick an album that I actually listen to.
This is a new position for me, 2nd last. I've been near the top of the other drafts. Serves me right for voicing my opinion on the snake draft I guess! It's all good, lot's of good albums to choose from.
With the first overall selection in this year's CP Album Draft, The Upper Brash would like to select... in the Metal category...
Metallica's Master of Puppets!
Quote:
Master of Puppets
Upon its release, Master of Puppets was immediately commercially successful, selling over half a million copies at its time of release without any major video/radio airplay, making it the band's first record to be certified Gold by the RIAA.
According to Allmusic's Steve Huey, Master of Puppets "was the band's greatest achievement." "Some critics have called Master of Puppets the best heavy metal album ever recorded", Huey noted. Master of Puppets has featured on several "greatest albums of all time" lists. The album is present in a list dubbed "The All-TIME 100 Albums" and published by TIME magazine in November 2006. In TIME critic Josh Tyrangiel's opinion, "Metallica didn't bother with hooks or pop discipline" in writing Master of Puppets. Metal Rules rated the album as being number one in a list of the "Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums" published in September 2003, whereas IGN also rated the album as being at first position in a list of the "Top 25 Metal Albums" issued in January 2007. It is included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die, and Q magazine counted it among the 50 heaviest albums of all time. In 2003, the album was ranked number 167 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

Are we still using the rule that, say in the case of FanIn80... now that he's picked Metallica, he's not able to choose Metallica in any other category?

Right, but someone else is still allowed to use Metallica (in any category)... just not Master of Puppets.
