The art and sounds are cutsy but no different than Mario or many other games that are cute but are still much fun.
The built in levels are organized like a campaign like Mario where you have to play through one to unlock the next one(s). There's no real overall story that I've seen yet (I haven't finished it) but the levels are grouped in themes and have a mini-story in them.
The online levels are one-off levels created by players. It's more social network structured so it's more like youtube but with levels rather than videos.. you can view the most popular ones, search by ones from your friends, view ones with specific tags, etc.

Only a handful of kids will be able to beat the latter levels on their own.

Yeah I'm totally stuck on the level where near the end there's the big rotating thing that you have to keep going through the levels of, tried it 4-5 times
And I can't play multiplayer to get some help as I can never join a game, their servers are still gimped.

That level is going to be a bitch to get an ace. I think I'm gonna save that one for last.

They have launched a site that could be useful for finding ideas, looking at various uploaded levels and planning out your levels outside of the game (read: pass time at work):

I had the most amazing weekend. I took all my social responsibilities and tossed them aside for two straight days, boarded a bus to edmonton, drove another hour north into the sticks to visit a friend who works at a biological research station. Funny thing about biology is that a lot of things die in the winter, namely the things he studies so his days are generally filled with boredom.
We played so much lbp that I'm almost too humiliated to admit it. I'll only say this: I've never played so many straight hours of a video game in my life. Until now the record was an 8 hour bender my friends and I had with GTA III. This was probably one of the best gaming experiences of my life hands down.
It was pretty surreal to just sit down and say "I want to build a tank" and then actually make it happen. We spent a couple hours intricatly placing metal blocks, bolting them together and then wrapping them around giant wheels. He worked on eliminating slack while I built a kick-ass cannon for the top. When we were done we just built oddly shaped things to drive over and blow up.

Got all the aces a couple days ago...not as hard as I thought it would be.
Now it's time to mess around online.

played my first multiplayer game the other night
man this game is fun single player, but it is a blast multiplayer
me and my friend just spent the entire time laughing at each other over stupid deaths, most of them unintentionally caused by the other player

I love that frying pan. I finished the game on my friends system, so I'm playing through it on mine trying to ace and collect everything. It's going pretty slow ... I'm still on the second area. I'm excited to go to Japan though as I can't wait to get my ninja mask back. Recently i got the pirate hook, so I may try and work a ninja/pirate thing.

I don't know how the user generated content quite works but would you be able to create a sackboy dressed as a hockey player? Including a hockey stick?

For the costumes not to that level. They have pre-set items that you can mix and match.
The levels are like that though.

That would be cool for the sequel (or an update). I was hoping there would be a costume creator.
