Great win, but IMO it shouldn't have even came down to that wild finish at the end. This team really, really needs to learn how to close out games. On a more positive note, I was very impressed with Deuce today. Great to see him pound the rock all day and still be healthy and on his feet by the end. Very encouraging.

Agreed, I just wish I knew when his suspension was going to kick in. If they can delay it until Reggie is ready, that would be super fantastic.

For those of you who didn't see it, Atlanta was down 20-14 with about 2:30 left in the fourth. They stopped Philly on third down and called their final timeout. The Eagles punted the ball and the ball bounced about a half of a foot to the inside of the Atlanta returner's right foot. The Eagles then picked up the football. What should've been ruled as a down punt was incorrectly ruled as a fumble and a recovery by Philly. Atlanta tried to challenge but were out of timeouts. Westbrook ran for a TD shortly after and the game was over.

why do they keep wasting everyone's time by having games in Europe? NFL Europe did not work. Canadians love the game. Play some regular season games here in front of fans who give a crap.

Things just keep gettin' crazier.
Seattle goes to San Francisco and throttles them with half a team.
The Browns win on the road in Jacksonville.
The Bills lose the division lead in Miami.
Do the Ravens have the easiest schedule in NFL history? No way that team should have the record it does.
At this point, I don't think there's a single sure-fire bet to make the playoffs...especially in the AFC. That includes Tennessee who will lose their first game tomorrow night.

The mediocrity is mind boggling. As a Chiefs fan I don't think I have ever seen a worse football team in my life. Yet they are not even a lock to get the first overall pick. They almost win in New England, they almost win in New York. Just when you think the AFC West is the biggest joke of a division you have to ask yourself how good the AFC East is? This season we may see a playoff team, or two, with losing records.

I'm thinking I may just like Head Coach Singletary.....

"I'd rather play with 10 people and just get penalized all the way until we have to do something else rather than play with 11 when I know that right now that person is not sold out to be a part of this team," Singletary said. And I give Davis credit for not being a prima donna about the lashing he took.

LJ is being charged with Simple Assault in Kansas City. Scheduled to meet with the Commissioner tomorrow.
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3667069
Quote:
Snapp said the incident occurred on Oct. 10 at The Blonde during the Chiefs' bye week. A 24-year-old woman said Johnson threatened to kill her boyfriend before spitting his drink in her face.
After leaving the bar, she said Johnson tried to spit on her again as he was escorted out.
Johnson also faces a Dec. 4 court date for another incident that occurred last February when he allegedly pushed a woman's face in another Kansas City nightspot.

If he gets suspended Yahoosports should remove him from the Can't Cut List.

Culpepper in demand?
Quote:
The Lions have finally confirmed an earlier report here that free agent quarterback Daunte Culpeper is visiting the team at its Allen Park practice facility.
|
Quote:
What makes the Culpepper situation more interesting is that Culpepper was scheduled to visit the Kansas City Chiefs today, presumably to sign a contract, but he canceled that visit, saying that he had a better offer from another club. Culpepper did not identify that team.

Suddenly, the Chiefs’ need to sign Daunte Culpepper to stabilize their quarterback play doesn’t seem as urgent. The Chiefs were planning to meet this week with Culpepper, a three-time Pro Bowler, but the visit was abruptly canceled, a move that could end the talks between the quarterback and the team.
It’s coincidence, probably, that the conversation between Culpepper and the Chiefs was scrapped in the hours after Thigpen delivered the team’s best-quarterbacked game of the season.

More finger pointing at the Patriots (or the officials of the Rams - Pats game)
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3668962
Quote:
The Rams are sending a videotape to the NFL's offices, highlighting plays the team believes should have resulted in penalties against the Patriots on Sunday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.
"Never ever, ever, ever played a perfect team before," Rams guard Richie Incognito said about the disparity, according to the report. "That's all I am going to say on that one."
|
Quote:
During the game, the Rams were flagged 12 times (with three penalties declined) for 63 yards; the Patriots were flagged once, with the Rams declining that penalty.
|
In all fairness to the officials. The Rams didn't have to decline the one penalty on the Pats.

Chargers have fired Defensive Coordinator Ted Cottrell

Cottrell was replaced by inside linebackers coach Ron Rivera, a Super Bowl winner with the Chicago Bears in 1985. Rivera will have the bye week to figure out why the Chargers (3-5) have underperformed.

The deal fell through with the Chiefs, apparently because Culpepper insisted on getting a two year contract as well as a guarantee to be the starter. Since the Chiefs are in rebuilding mode, bringing in an over the hill veteran QB would go against everything the Chiefs are trying to accomplish.
Not sure how the situation in Detroit is in regards to rebuilding ( I guess you can't really call 50 years of mediocrity rebuilding) or just trying to win a few games. Would Culpepper fit in with the Lions? Or would the two year contract along with the insistence of being the starter blow the whole deal?

They already have Kitna who is better than Culpepper so I doubt they would want to look at bringing in Dante for two years. Kitna is out for the rest of the season with a back injury but there is no way that Culpepper would be the starter next year with Kitna and stupid to start him over some young guy that could develop either.
Team should be in complete rebuild mode and not care about winning a game or two this season. I say should because who knows what the dopes running the team will do/think.
They have less than 10 NFL quality starters on their team so they certainly are in rebuild mode for sure in my mind.

Listening to 124 just now. Sounds like Culpepper wants $2.5 Million (or more) to play this season for the Lions. Probably isn't going to happen and he will be re-retired by Friday.

Ummmmm. I'm not sure what to think. At the very least, the rest of the year won't be boring.
