New NHL 09 Patch
Hey guys,
The details to the new patch have just been released. Looks to improve the online portion of the game (specifically the EASHL) significantly.
"We have fixed the goals from outside shots that people are
scoring. We have reduced shot accuracy when on the rush and when turning quickly, and from far out. You will now have to be more conservative when shooting on the rush. If you aim all the way to the left or right, your shot will go wide a lot more. Try aiming more towards the middle to
hit the net from outside. This fixes the cross goal where you shoot back the other way, and the goal that goes in with the "curve" animation, and a few others. There's a reason NHL players don't shoot from outside on the rush very often. Dumping or trying to set up is a better play unless
you have an odd-man situation."

Finally, plenty of good fixes. This, the dashboard update, and games like GOW 2 is making November look like a good month for 360 gamers.

Wow this is amazing. Its like the first time that NHL series got patched.
I'm looking forward to the following.
Quote:
Checking has been tuned
Glitch shot fixes
If Vision Control is pressed, you do not throw a hit when in front of the attacking net. This helps with rebound shots.
|
Finally, we dont get a stupid cross checking penalty trying to jam in a rebound.

in one of the threads it mentions wanting hats being thrown on the ice for hat tricks. that would be great! but having said that...i would always want them to focus on gameplay first.

thank god, I wont be gooning it up as much in front of the opposition net anymore, though of course Ill liekly still be prone to the lame triping penalty every game...
Im like Craig Conroy and Tony Amonte all rolled into one in the EASHL...one lame penalty per game, and cant seem to hit the net if my life depended on it

Happy to report I scored an ot goal for the fatas last night using the new L2 feature. I absolutely love it now. Every time we streak into the zone i just hold down L2 and I can just focus on loose pucks.

here's the thing that worries me. and its already happening some in games i have been in.
they took away the cheese goals, so scoring is down. they decided to go 5-on-5 continuous OT as well. so games have the chance to go on forever!
last night we had one go double OT and no end was in sight... until we all got kicked out. not sure if the other team was bored, or if the EA servers crapped out. but had it not happened we might still be playing.
i am happy they took out the cheese goals, but i think they need to make it a bit easier to score in general. so sick of 1-0, 2-0, and 2-1 games...

Don't complain. The custom music is even more quiet on the PS3!

You mean the Vision Control in front of the net?
Before the update, did that button do anything?

The button still engaged vision control but the problem was when there was a loose puck your player would cross check by default instead of trying to shoot the puck (often leading to dumb penalties!).
I'm now very interested to see how those teams who rely on cheese goals ("curve shot") will be able to compete.

Dobbles is correct, scoring is way down. We just need to get better is all. For instance, last night our two goals came off a tip and a rebound out front. I think throwing it back to the D for a big point shot is going to become very important as we can't just walk into the slot and pick a corner like we used to.

It's only been like two months. How long do you think patches like this take?
Good news they are updating and doing patches, this is the best part about systems now. I still can't get online with my NES
