Default Ceiling speaker covers

I got my new house wired for home theater and room speakers. The installer came and cut out the holes for the speakers, but failed to infom me of the high price for false covers for the rooms that were wired for sound and didn't get speakers. (They told me to wire any room I thought I may want speakers in the future, even if I didn't put them in right away) He said the false covers for the holes were almost as expensive as putting in speakers. I wish he had told me this before he went and cut all the holes, or I'd have said just to leave those rooms alone.

Anyway, does anyone know where to find cheap ceiling speaker covers or false plates because I don't want to buy them from the installer.

Just had a look on eBay and found a bunch.

Where have you checked? If you can't find any at home theatre stores, perhaps somewhere like Eecol Electrical could help.

Wow, that's ######ed... In our house they simply brought the wire through a small hole in the drywall and put one of those basic outlet covers overtop. Are you saying they cut a big 8" hole in your ceiling for each? How do they even know what size speaker you were planning on getting eventually?

I don't know. I just went with the standard speakers. They look good, but the holes in the other rooms are a problem. If I can't find a nice cover to hide them I may just make a few in the garage. I think I may cut some round MDF boards and router the edges smooth and then spray paint them a flat white to match the ceiling.
