Chat: # of users indicator?

I think it would be cool if there could be an indicator for how many users are in CP chat at a given time. Perhaps this indicator could be placed just under the link in the countdown window. ("x users currently online"). Could such a thing be done? It's kind of annoying to go into the chat and find out it's barren. I know cp chat isn't used much other than during games, but even then sometimes no one is in there.
