yeah, i had hoped for more quality. i mean the thing that makes rock band fun as a party game is playing songs like roxanne or eye of the tiger. they are fun ones everyone knows.
and while they are free additional songs, i really don't even see a lot of reason to download them.

Simply having Between the Buried and Me there makes that list incredible, IMO.

I guess saying "good songs" makes what really I meant come out wrong. I was hoping that we would get some well known songs put into the list but I'm not surprised cause like I said it's free.

Yeah it sucks because vocals on a song you don't know isn't very fun. Especially if you're playing guitar and singing at the same time.

have you heard of Chevelle or The Chevelles??? Chevelle is a semi popular American band. The Chevelles are some Australian band I have never heard of.

hmmm, maybe it was Chevelle. Either way, unless these songs sound cool, they won't make my download list, free or not.

I know what you're saying. It is a little odd to release so many obscure artists for a game driven by the casual market. But really, it's the equivalent of all the local bands they put in Rock Band 1 except these bands are (generally) much better from what I've heard.

So RB2 has been out for awhile. I've been considering getting it (and this thread would suggest it would be a good idea) but I was hoping my old Guitar Hero 3 wireless Gibson controllers would be compatible (on PS3).
All I can get from the internet is that the GH3 controllers work with RB2 for certain on the Wii and XBox, but for the PS3 it's always a "maybe" or "there's no reason why they shouldn't work". See for example this site http://www.joystiq.com/Instrument-Compatibility-Matrix/
Has anybody tried this yet?

This came up a couple pages ago. Anyways, all instruments from all games (rock band, rock band 2, gh2, gh3, gh:wt and rock revolution) are compatible for 360, ps3, wii.

I didn't realize all of the oasis album was downloadable ... that's pretty sweet.
edit: Just read the ign review and I must say I'm really debating not picking it up. The tour mode seems a little rough, almost like a downgrade of rock band 1, which wasn't flawless by any means. Most notably you can't save somebody when you're playing in a band. if your drummer ****s the bed then you all fail. Saving people in my eyes is part of the fun and strategy of the game. Pretty much a deal killer for me right there, not even "hotel california" can gloss that over.

after reading the ign review, it's good to know that rock band is still king. Not that I could switch easily, since I've invested so much in DLC.

Does anyone know if you have to own rock band 1 to be able to get all the songs off of it onto RB2 for the 5$? Or can you simply go rent the game or borrow a friends or something?

The export file states that you need a copy of the RB1 disk to play the RB1 songs in future RB titles. So I figured there would be some kind of copy protection involved.
With that in mind, went and bought a used copy of RB1 thinking my system would ask me for the disk id # or manual id # or something when I exported. To my surprise, it did not and it simply downloaded all the RB1 songs to the hard drive of my PS3. The next time I put RB2 in, they were all there, sorted into RB2 categories of difficulty (and they now play occassionally when I do a random set - all without the RB1 disk).
So I guess the short answer is that I could have saved a bit more $$$ by simply renting or borrowing from a friend. At least I saved a bit by buying used instead of new.
