Honestly, the sound wasn't that great. It was really loud, and hard to hear the vocals. I wasn't familiar with any of the new songs, so it was hard to judge the show.
They are supposed to be on Letterman this week, and I imagine they will be on SNL soon.

Hey! nice to find some TVOTR fans in here. I just got back from buying the CD. I've been a big fan ever since seeing them on Carson "I'm a massive tool" Daly's show about 4 years ago. Say what you will about Daly but he does give national exposure to a lot of great music acts.
Anyways, I found a leaked copy online a couple of weeks ago, and it's so good that I had to make sure to support the band by buying it. Guitarist Dave Sitek is an excellent producer! He even made Scarlett Johansson's CD interesting to listen to.
As for their Letterman appearance, they were supposed to be on last night, but I looked it up and they are now on this Friday the 26th.

Ben Folds third album releases next week. Way to Normal is the title. I heard one song from it and I quite enjoyed it. I don't count Supersunnyspeedgraphic as a proper album since it's just a collection of the 3 EP's.
I'm a HUGE Folds fan..

What no mention of "Chinese Democracy" yet?
Yes indeed it's actually going to be released this year. Nov. 23.
Everybody in the states gets a free Dr. Pepper.
I have tehe 9 song leak from earlier this summer. Personally think it's pretty darn good. Not spectacular but darn good and better than most of what I hear on the radio nowadays.

I heard the first single and thought it was really boring. The opening riff is so generic and the song overall is really overproduced..I guess that's what happens when you work on something for 14 years or whatever its been.
I will acknowlege that it will never live up to the hype no matter what it was. But that was no better than a Nickelback song.

Honestly of the 9 songs (10 now with Shackler's Revenge on Rock Band 2 though I haven't had a good listen to that one yet), that is likely the worst song. I think it was released because it's the title track and precisely because it is more straight ahead and is a seamless fit on the playlists of most rock stations.
The main thing I heard after giving a really good listen to the 9 song leak is that there are guitars absolutely everywhere. Buckethead truly does shine on many songs.
The single for those that are interested

Radio reacts:

"This is what we've waited 15 years (or however long) for?," asked MD/morning host Matt Murray on WHTG/Monmouth-Ocean, N.J. "How long did we wait for the third Boston album? Remember how that turned out?," said KISS/San Antonio's John Lisle.
Hey, I liked Cool The Engines.

NOw now be fair and give the good with the bad.
"I admit, it took a couple of listens, but 'Chinese Democracy' is really good," says PD Michael Cross at KFMW/Waterloo-Cedar Rapids, Iowa. "It's something that could have easily been on 'Use Your Illusion.' Much like 'It's So Easy,' with Axl's trademark screams and higher pitched vocals mixed underneath his lower vocals, the track rocks. Instant phones!"
It seemed to go over well on whatever Tulsa station I was listening to in the rental car when they first played it.

Meh, put me down as someone that has never liked Guns n' Roses at all. I think they are exactly the counter to what rock and roll really is. Just a bunch of glammed up cokeheads.

Their new album Mountain Meadows came out a little while ago but I thought I'd throw Elliott Brood into the mix. If you like catchy foot stompin' songs with lots of banjo then you'll love this album. It's a regular in my rotation right now.

Can you guess which new record this critic is talking about? [allmusic.com]
???? are not known for their insight, but ??'s caterwauling claim that "we got no class, no taste" on "????," the second song on their ???th album, ?????, is a slice of perceptive, precise self-examination. ???? are a gnarled, vulgar band reveling in their ignorance of the very notion of taste, lacking either the smarts or savvy to wallow in bad taste so they just get ugly, knocking out knuckle-dragging riffs that seem rarefied in comparison to their thick, boneheaded words.
???? seethes with ugly misogyny.
