Terrible day in pick 'em for me.
When you can't rely on a Raiders loss you know it's a bad day.

Janikowski with a solid kick...would've been good from 67.
As for my Seahawks, going to be a long year...too bad, Holmgren doesn't deserve it. He tied his star to Hasslebeck years ago, but the guy seems to have peaked. No matter how this year turns out, Hasselbeck already has his excuses lined up this year and he's not going to jepordize his future years by trying to actually lead a team back from a 1-5. A couple years under MOra, at most, is all he has left in SEA, and he's probably bright enough to know that a slighlty above average NFL QB that's been in the league for 10 years, won't have much of a future when SEA cuts ties with him.
As for tonight.
Hope this national tv embarassement is the nail in the coffin for Wallace. Never more then an athlete, certainly not a NFL QB. Can't blame him totally in his 4+ years in the SEA organization, Hasselbeck is no mentor to guide your own career after. Bad throws, bad decsision, fumbling snaps, etc etc, the list goes on....no place being as a #2 QB in the NFL.
FOr all his issues, Garcia would look fantastic in Seahawk blue....the Seahawks need some fire and more importantly, some offensive leadserhship. Him as a 1A QB for those times when Hasselbeck starts throwing rainbows or making rookie decisions, and then be a capable starter, firing up his team, as well as making plays and getting his teammates to rally around him is exactly the tonic this team needs.
Back a few years back, Trent Dilfer was that sort of fiery leader, and transformed a sad sterlile team when Hasselbeck missed a few games..Dilfer was at the end of a career and didn't have the skills, but that sort of personality is needed to pull this team out of the offensive doldrums.

It seems to me that 5 years ago I could usually pick most of the winners in any given NFL week. This year has just been impossible.

I think he is done forever. Most of us Chiefs fans figured last year that he was too brittle to play in the NFL. He has had the injury bug his entire carrer, from high school, college and now the NFL. Yet the Chiefs figured he was worth the risk and groomed him to be the long time starter. There is a reason the Chiefs are a laughing stock right now. Rebuilding is just the excuse for a cheap owner, a crappy coach and a GM who hasn't done jack since the Marty Schottenhiemer days.
As for Brodie, I wish him well. I think he has the talent to be an NFL QB. He just can't stay healthy, which is pretty important.

Actually, with the race for the #1 pick heating up, tomorrow's Lions-Texans tilt is a big game.

Do you think the Lions are bad enough to go 0-16 this season? It doesn't look like the Chiefs will win another game this season. It would suck to go 1-15 and not get the first overall pick. There are some bad teams in the league this season.

Well it is hard to go 0-16.. nearly as hard as it is to go 16-0. But even keeping that in mind, the Lions actually have a pretty rough schedule to play out:
Week 8 vs. Washington - safe to say the 'skins take this one
Week 9 at Chicago - the Lions have never played well in Chicago, save last year!
Week 10 vs. Jacksonville - I predict lots of booing at Ford Field for this one
Week 11 at Carolina - well that's 4 great defenses in a row - Orlovsky might get benched by this point
Week 12 vs. Tampa - depends on how the Bucs are playing, but another tough D to face
Week 13 vs. Tennessee - perhaps the best defense. Lions will be lucky to score
Week 14 vs. Minnesota - this one's winnable. Depends on what the Vikes are playing for by then
Week 15 at Indianapolis - Indy looked bad yesterday, but not lose-to-the-Lions bad
Week 16 vs. New Orleans - another winnable game, but Detroit's secondary should make Brees salivate
Week 17 at Green Bay - the Lions can't win in GB period.
0-16 is very possible at this point. The Lions have already breezed through the easiest part of their schedule, still winless!

There will be one game where some team screws up so badly that the Lions end up having to win but with Kitna out and Orlovsky in they certainly have the talent to go 0-16.
The defense sucks against the run and can't stop the pass, not a great combination.
The offense has one decent player and he is a wide receiver that has to rely on a QB that would struggle in the Arena 2 league, so that doesn't bode well either.
The running game is pathetic because the line is mostly crap and Smith and Johnson are pretty awful runners.
The coaching staff hasn't shown any sort of ability to do anything to help the team win.
Once again the QB is Dan Orlovsky who ran 2-3 yards out of the end zone with no pressure on him. He is a terrible QB.
Someone, not sure who, will screw up and lose to the Lions but they certainly have the talent to lose every game this year, likely next and heck I would bet two years from now as well.

Obviously very hard to go 0-16 since nobody has done it since the 1976 Buccaneers. I love the sound bites from their coach back then when he was asked what happened after one loss. "Well, we coudn't block. And we made up for it by not tackling".

Too bad the Chiefs and the Lions don't play each other this season. Might actually be a good game. The matchup last season wasn't bad.

Calvin Lowry starts at Safety for Denver. Haven't found out why yet, but on the first Pats series he looks like he needs to go play rec league ball.
Could be a long night for the Broncos.

Well, Lowry hasn't gotten any better. In fact, I think he's the worst safety I've ever seen. I'm not kidding.
They might as well just put the rookie Jack Williams in the game and let him learn on the fly. The results can't be any worse and at least you know he'll make an effort.
What a joke.

No kidding. Turnovers are one thing, but when Sammy Morris is running it down the throat of your D line.....not much good can come from it.
I still think that the Broncos should stick to pounding the ball with whomevr they feel is better at protecting the ball...as they have had some success doing so, and Cutlers finger may really be an issue.

I agree, the Pats stopped two runs so far (sans the fumbles). Every other run was at least 4 yards. Thing is, I've seen Pittman hit his head hard on the turf 3 times and he's been slow to get up a lot. He could already be concussed.
Mark my words, Ryan Torain will be the starting RB in week 9.

Man, that Pats defense is awfully cocky for how awful they are.
Nice punt by Cutler there. Second one in two weeks.
Has Matt Cassell EVER thrown the ball away?

Moss with a big score, taking advantage of Bailey's absence. This game could be a confidence booster for the sputtering Pats offense.

Man this thing is one fugly game.
Cassell is not very good....but really what does that then say about the Denver defense? (sorry Dis..just how it appears)
The personal fouls are indications of teams not well prepared mentally.
This thing look too be a washout in NE's favor, but the main thing I would wanna know as a bronco fan is Bailey's injury status. Dude is a monster and leaves a massive hole in their man coverage schemes.

Geez, Cassell needs to get rid of the ball.
