Just because he has called a game for 476 consecutive weeks (I assume that is during NFL season) he is taking a couple weeks off. Chris Collinsworth is filling in.
He probably just doesn't wanna sit through what should be a snoozer. I dont blame him.

Cris Collinsworth replaces John Madden Sunday for the first NFL regular-season game Madden will miss since becoming a full-time TV analyst in 1980.

Wow, that's pretty impressive.

And NBC doesn't have a game scheduled the following week (so they aren't competing with a world series game) so John gets a couple weeks off.

The Detroit Lions say hi.

But given the Lions' track record with high draft picks, they may as well concede it to the Chiefs or whomever else wants it more. Well, maybe things will be different without Millen.

Actually, with the race for the #1 pick heating up, tomorrow's Lions-Texans tilt is a big game.

As pointed out on NFL today...

the Cowboys have lost

Felix Jones...their kick returner
Pacman Jones...their punt returner
Matt MacBriar...their punter

And of course the whole romo ordeal.

Special teams could actually decide that game against the Rams.

Funny, I thought they'd be ready to play ball today after such a quiet week in Dallas.

When's the transmission for the Bills game coming back?
That looks like a great game.

Watching the Bungles is really painful.

And now Reggie Bush is out 3-4 weeks(as well as C Goodwin), right as Colston and Shockey come back. This just isn't the Saints season, its unbelievable how the injury bug has chomped down on them this year. I see them chasing .500 all year, finishing somewhere between 7-9 to 8-8.

Brodie Croyle did well today....made it until the second quarter...except now he's done for the season! Huard can't last a full game, Thigpen is terrible....Oh man. Is it too late to go find guys like Jeff George and Vinny Testaverde so the Chiefs can at least field a team? Maybe Tony Gonzalez can play QB.

Indeed, especially with the speculated injuries to the Saints (Bush, Goodwin, Shockey). Not a lot of hope for this Saints fan right now.

I'm much more confident in the Flames chances this year.

Pretty foolish of the Saints to rush Shockey and Colston (the wrap on his hand was ridiculous) back, when they weren't completely ready. I just read that the Saints cut the punter as well, tough day.

Raiders call a time out on the kicker just before he kicked and missed. I hope Feeley gets it just to spite those tools, I hate the last second timeout.
