Rookie Defenseman Joins Flames Line-Up from ECHL’s Florida Everblades

Moline, IL- The Quad City Flames announced today that defenseman Craig Switzer has been signed to a Professional Try-Out Agreement (PTO). The rookie rearguard began the season on the roster of the Florida Everblades of the ECHL.

Switzer will begin his professional career this season after playing four seasons at the University of New Hampshire. Switzer lead the 2007-08 Wildcats in penalty minutes with 53. He also paced his team’s defensemen in goals with six. He added 14 assists for a collegiate career high of 20 points. Over his four year career, he recorded 67 points (12 goals and 55 assists) in 158 NCAA games.

Before attending the University of New Hampshire, Switzer skated with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks in the British Columbia Hockey League. In 2003-04, he led Salmon Arm defensemen in goals (14), assists (40) and points (54).

The Flames host the Chicago Wolves tonight at 7:05 p.m. It’s Susan G. Komen Skate for Breast Cancer Awareness Night. Fans can purchase a special ticket package that includes a game ticket and a commemorative pink Quad City Flames puck for just $20.00. The Flames head to Des Moines on Saturday for a 7:05 p.m. face-off with the Iowa Chops. The game can be heard on 93.9 FM WYEC beginning at 6:40 p.m. with the Hayman’s Ace Hardware Pre-Game Show. The broadcast will also air on-line at qcflames.com. For just $6.00, fans can watch the game on-line at ahllive.com.

i wonder if they are bringing on an extra defenseman because ericksson isn't coming???

I wish Eriksson would just tell us whether or not he's ever going to show up. If not, we could go out and sign a real defenseman who could fit into the system instead of our having to handle this thing piecemeal while a prima donna whose feelings have been hurt decides when he's done feeling sorry for himself.....

Good player or bad, Eriksson hasn't even shown up yet and I don't like what he's doing to this team!

though i did see over on ITB someone said that both palin and pelech are nursing minor injuries. so maybe this guy is just to help out while they are out???
