Default Mentally disabled man tortured for 2 days and left for dead

Quote:
Authorities say four men lured a 24-year-old mentally disabled man from his Lakeville home to a remote Dakota County area, where they tortured him for hours on two days last weekend.

Criminal complaints say the torture included tying him to a tree, beating him and burning him with cigarette lighters. His mother said she was told he also was tied to a motorcycle and dragged for 200 feet.

Carolyn Hamilton, said his body is entirely black and blue. He may lose sight in one eye and has broken ribs and possible kidney damage. But it's the emotional effects on her son, who has fetal alcohol syndrome, that may stay with him the rest of his life, she said.

"He's absolutely, completely terrified," she said of her son, whom she adopted. "It's life-changing for someone like Justin, the way he lives and his exposure to other people. It makes his life smaller."

What started the tourture

Quote:
A 16-year-old girl lied to her boyfriend that a mentally disabled Lakeville man had hit her and helped lure the man to a remote location, where she egged on her boyfriend and three other men as they beat and tortured the man, prosecutors said Wednesday.

"I've seen the photographs from this particular beating, and in nearly 30 years of law enforcement, the level of beating this man took was savage. It was just savage," said Dave Bellows, chief deputy with the Dakota County Sheriff's Office.

Unbelievable. Amazing what the power of words, especially from a 16-year-old, can have.

Brutal. Hopefully the young offender laws aren't as slack in the US as up here.

I think the girl is going to get off pretty lightly here, unfortunately. The men on the other hand, I think/hope are looking at some serious time.

On top of that, she's 16. The youngest man is 19 and one of the men is described as her boyfriend. Knowing how these types of things are dealt with down there, I wouldn't be surprised if she tells a statutory story to save her own skin in the assault case.

Wow, the lengths people are willing to go sometimes are incredible. I wonder what her motivation was?

And in that case, hopefully the jury is smart enough to realize she's a pathological liar and throw her in jail for a long time.

What the heck are wrong with people these days? I get disgusted when I see people stare or just make fun of a disabled person, let alone beat one up. Absolutely dreadful and I hope these guys, and the girl get thrown in jail for a long time.

Remember I've said it first and often. Human's are inherantly evil, its just that some people are better at controlling the evil impulse gene then others.

At the core, we're all suicidal, junkie, murdering, human flesh eaters waiting for the right environment to spring forward like a black rose and destroy each other in a hideous and joyous orgy of blood and pain.

The world is as it always was. Only difference is that the technology has advanced, both to harm our fellow man and to broadcast it to a wider audience.

And the fact that one of them works with handicapped people makes it even more disgusting. The girl deserves to have the book thrown at her but I'm sure she'll get nothing more than a slap on the wrist, if that. Disgusting.

The fact the individual was handicapped should have nothing to do with this story and punishments IMO.

The underlining issue is that 4 men brutally beat someone they though hit a 16 year old girl.

Were there actions extreme, Barbaric, Brutal? Absoulutly

However, this was not 4 individuals beating up a handicapped person for fun, or for him being handicapped.

If this girl had not lied none of this would have happened. As much as I would like to villianize the 4 men, if a 16 year old girl came and told me someone beat/rape/etc her, I'm not sure the extremes I may go to in order to punish said individual. Sure is vigilantism, and perhaps this story is perfect evidence of why there is a justice system, but human emotion can be pretty strong in cases of violence against a loved one

I think the fact that he's mentally handicapped is very relevant. It goes to the characther of the people that they would

a) beat up on someone who has a limited capacity to defend themselves
b) do so based upon believing that he did something that he may not necessarily have the capacity to know is wrong

I think we both agree that these guys are creeps and need to be dealt with harshly, but I really do see this as being very different than if the person they beat up was fully mentally developed.

Hey Locke should be admired and saluted for his hobo killing, flesh eating junky lifestyle.

Locke is a man that refuses, I say again refuses to let the normal accepted behaviours of the so called civilized homo sapien societal rules interfere or hammer down the true base instincts that we have.

Out of every human being on the planet, Locke's tendancies to be a tree buggering, bible study butchering, drano injecting example of mankind, makes him one of the most honest people on the planet.

Sounds like the accused are the ones with the bigger mental disability here.

What a terrible story. I'm sure they'll all have fun in prision explaining to the general population why this needed to be done.
