Some call Alex Jones. I see a sequel in the making.
"Loose Screws : The conspiracy in my mind"
And I agree with transplant. This is one incident where debating about it on the internet is ######ed.

Yup I would think that if anything that is what this is all about. Obama is expected to win. If something screws that up there will be massive riots in most major cities. This Army unit could be called on to help an overwhelmed National Guard unit. It's advantage would be that it is already mobile and Bush wouldn't have to make requests for the troops from a State's Governor. That might be important where time is of essence.

I have just learned that the US stations more than half of it's military IN THE US. George Bush could unleash this force at anytime should there be racial rioting, run on the banks, and possibly against any gathering of troofers! This is definitely a development needing watching over the next few months!

As in actively shooting at people. The only point I'm raising by making this thread is that it's never been done before.

This army unit is currently engaged in military operations on US soil that involve shooting at people?
I find that hard to believe.
Although I guess any active military operation has the potential to involve people getting shot I suppose..

Right. HHH you shouldn't be accused of being a paranoid conspiracy theorist just becasue you threw out an idea. People who have never been through an uprising or some sort of natural disaster may not realize that it only takes a small number of troublemakers to cause things to go out of control. it needn't be a Katrina disaster, or racial protests on a national scale. Take about 20 panicked people fighting over a jug of water or a tankful of gas and it could be uh, a real problem. It could be just coincidence that this is happening now. On the bright side Dow is up 936...and GM 33.7%

On Hardball Biden is being questioned about McCain's rhetoric. He is saying that he hopes it doesn't lead to the sort of tragedies that happened in the 60s. IU'm not listening too carefully but they did mention the possibility of violence, and Biden said he doubted it. But, if nothing else...it was mentioned.

Eh?
There are a LOT of active units stationed in the US right now. Including numerous Special Operations teams that are on notice 24 hours a day just in case something happens.

That's interesting, I'd love to see some links supporting it.
(And I'm obviously kidding about the US using their own army to shoot civilians...)

Well, you can visit any of the dozens of military installations in the US and see active duty units stationed there any time.
I don't know if this has anything to do with your original post (there seemed to be at least some stipulation that make this situation unique even if I can't understand it) , but I don't think Azure really needs to provide proof of something that is common knowledge.

here is just one (not far from me) among dozens and dozens of military bases.
Quote:
Camp Lejeune is the home of "Expeditionary Forces in Readiness" for the past 65 years, and throughout the years, it has become the home base for the II Marine Expeditionary Force, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Logistics Group and other combat units and support commands.
There are several major Marine Corps commands and one Navy command aboard Camp Lejeune. Some tenant commands include Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, II Marine Expeditionary Force, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, and the naval hospital to name a few.

Maybe this was hidden in my original post. I'll link it again for ease.
From the Army Times:
this new mission marks the first time an active unit has been given a dedicated assignment to NorthCom, a joint command established in 2002 to provide command and control for federal homeland defense efforts and coordinate defense support of civil authorities.
So basically, here's what's happening:
- Something is happening that has never been done before;
and
- According to various posters in this thread, it happens all the time and is common knowledge.
I'm confused. I'll admit I'm no army enthusiast, so maybe I'm not understanding the news story properly?

This is likely what they are referring too.
Quote:
PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. -- For the first time in its existence, U.S. Northern Command is gaining a dedicated force to respond to potential chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and high-yield explosive (CBRNE) incidents in the homeland.
"We are now building the first of three CBRNE Consequence Management Response Forces," said USNORTHCOM Commander Gen. Gene Renuart. "On the first of October, we’ll have an organized force, a trained force, an equipped force, a force that has adequate command and control and is on quick response – 48 hours – to head off to a large-scale nuclear, chemical, biological event that might require Department of Defense support."
The CBRNE Consequence Management Response Force, or CCMRF, is a team of about 4,700 joint personnel that would deploy as the Department of Defense’s initial response force for a CBRNE incident. Its capabilities include search and rescue, decontamination, medical, aviation, communications and logistical support.

Men with guns...yes, but also with capabilities no civilian service would have in reponse to a major event on home soil.

Agreed, though it may have taken a while to get this thing together as they want it to be
Its frightening to think, but it is also a real possibility, that a Nuke (of some size or another) will be detonated on NA soil sometime in the future.
This unit clearly is something that will be needed .....especially the medical/decomtamination/communications aspects.
thinking ahead...something the USA has been harshed on for not doing in the past.
I would suspect that because this is an offshoot of NORAD as well (or co-operates with anyhow)...that should the unthinkable happen on Canadian soil, this group would be available to them as well.

Coronado, California and Little Creek, Virginia are both home to SEAL teams that are on alert at all times.
Pretty sure 1st SFOD-D at Fort Bragg is also on alert at all times.
Fort Lewis in Washington State has two Army Special Operations groups that are on alert at all time.
DEVGRU in Dam Neck, Virginia is ALSO on alert 24 hours per day.
I can name at least 4 more of the top of my head.....but I don't see the point.
