The Green Party is an absolute sham. Absolutely ridiculous how they are getting away with this.

Well, I'm voting based on the fact that I KNOW that my riding is going conservative. So, the only leverage I have with my MP regarding the copyright bill is my vote.

What's bizarre is the GP candidate complaining about the liberals trying to woo GP voters at the last minute. Isn't every party trying to woo voters from every other party, especially on the left? I don't fault the Liberals, or NDP, or Green candidates for this, but I do fault May for putting her dislike for the Conservatives ahead of the good of her own party.

Whether you KNOW a candidate will win is beside the point. Total popular vote has an indirect impact too.
You once commended me for "not jumping on you" or something to that effect when you first joined. Again, this is not jumping on you, just pointing out some issues.
Should you in fact "leverage" your vote, what impact to you expect from doing that? In the T-bar of the political landscape, it is only one parties platform against anothers, therefore you are simply elevating the whole of the other parties stance. So, are you voting FOR their stance? 'Cause in the end, that is all that matters.
Vote FOR the platform/expected performance you think is best, not against it. And I encourage all people to do just that, regardless of which party that may result in your vote.
Vote FOR something people. Deal with the rest afterwards.

Hopefully May's appeal for Green supporters to support the Liberals/NDP will signal the end of her leadership. I'd like to think the Greens have something to offer as a voice in Parliament, and I'd like to support them. But May is wingnut and I cannot support a party with such a lame leader. I was willing to vote Green in this election, but May's performance has assured I'll be voting Conservative, not that they need my vote in my constituency.

Not sure if this link has been posted already in this thread as I haven't followed it faithfully, but it's kind of a fun election prediction site. They generally run about 90% correct in their projections.
http://www.electionprediction.org/2007_fed/index.php
Edit: Rather offensive that they're carrying political Google Ads, but some of the discussions going on at the constituency levels are interesting.

Yup, excellent site. A couple other ones that people may find interesting are:
The Laurier Institute, who use a stastistical method for their predictions, which I think is less appropriate for Canadian politics than in the US presidential elections, because of the importance of local candidates here: http://www.wlu.ca/lispop/fedblog/?page_id=46
And Democratic Space, who have a similar methodology to Election Prediction Project: http://www.democraticspace.com/canada2008/

Pretty much. And this is pretty much why May had no business being anywhere near the debates. Her party is a joke, always was, and always will be. You just can't fight so hard to try and prove that people should vote for you, only to turn around and tell people not to vote for you.

It was only a few short weeks ago that she was trying to come across as a major federal party and not an off-shoot of the Liberal Party. We can only hope she loses her riding and rides off into obsurity. What a joke.

Welll Im willing to guess that Dion has made a deal to give her a position in his cabinet should he win and, of course, she wins her own riding. That would be the liberal way afterall.
Unbelievable that she has declared that "certain ridings" should vote "strategically". That is a red flag if i have ever heard one for the above scenario to play out.

If in fact, May is selling out her own candidates to help the Liberals, then there's no way in hell that they should get any favors in the next election in terms of entry into the debates unless they win the mandatory 12 seats.
If the rumors are true that if there is a liberal minority, May wins her seat and gets a cabinet post, then its the end of the Green Party as a political entity, and May is a sellout.

Yeah that David Emerson thing, crossing the floor for a cabinet post before even sitting a day in the house, what a dirty Liberal....oh, wait.

Surely you see the difference. A fringe party that has been whining...er I guess I should say lobbying from legitimacy for years now finally gets a sniff at it - and then starts telling their supporters to cast their votes elsewhere.
To be blunt, if this shakes out as some are speculating I think May should be held responsible for crushing any momentum the Greens had on their way to becoming a legitimate entity.
I'm not saying the Emerson situation was right either - but its entirely different.
