Wow, the attack ads on HNIC are thick tonight.

Conservative ad: The Liberals are bad for Canada because the Carbon tax will ruin the economy.

Liberal ad: The Conservatives are bad for Canada because Stephen Harper is George Bush.

As usual, the Liberals end up looking pitiful and desperate with their advertising.

Edit: Wow, a Liberal ad where they are trying to sell themselves. That's shocking!

Again, it is a symbiotic relationship. The two (or three) parties would find issues that they could all agree on and work together to come up with plans they can all agree on. Yes, most times the larger party is seen as the one implementing the proposal, so they would have to agree with it before presenting it. Nationalized Health Care being an obvious exception as most realize that was driven by the NDP.

Recent history hardly argues that a coalition would be symbiotic. Especially in the case of Layton, who's spent most of his time during these minority governments demanding NDP policy be enacted in order to support the government of the day. Perhaps in the right situation, you might be able to argue the potential for a symbiotic relationship, Not with Layton though, he is a parasite.

As far as the Bloc goes, I would maintain based on Dion's past statements that he simply would not be willing to form a formal coalition with separatists. Neverminding the fact that the Conservatives and NDP would jump all over his siding with the people that want to break our country up.

Going back to the debates, I loved the criticism of Harper's plan for tax credits for the Arts (among other things). The criticism was that a lot of people don't pay tax ans do the credits won't do them any good.

What about Dion's Carbon Tax? The rational behind it being revenue neutral is that Income Tax will go down, and it will offset the raise in prices caused by the Carbon Tax. What happens to those that don't pay income tax? Their prices will be going up with no/little benefit back to them, making the poor even more poor. For example: their calculator says that someone making $35k per year will get $357 back.

Just another reason to not like the green shift.

Assuming they don't a) lose their job beforehand and b) the tax breaks come in all at once.

Dion will bring the carbon tax in soon enough to scoop the revenues, but the 'offset' we may never see.

I philosophically refuse to vote for parties that spend more time attacking their opponents then trying to get their own ideas across.

So far that rules out the Conservatives and the Liberals. They are sound like they are recently divorced judging from their childish remarks going back and forth.

Layton has been the worst for attacking. He was terrible in the debate. Made an a$$ of himself in my opinion. I loved to see him get called out on his trip to a private clinic after just denouncing them.

Remember last election, when the only party that presented a platform of any type was the Conservatives?

This is two elections in a row without an actual plan or platform from the Liberals and NDP. Once again, they are trying to win the election by making everyone afraid of Stephen Harper.


*Note: The Liberals may very well have a plan (this time at least), but I have no freakin clue what Dion is saying half the time, that I honestly don't know if they do. I'm forced to rely on the guy narrating their attack ads, and all he ever does is bitch about Harper.

*Other Note: The NDP may have a plan too. Who knows? That's kinda like going to a circus and expecting the clowns to come up with a plan.

I think it's a little silly to let a single issue force you to not vote at all, than to vote for the party that you say you actually like.

What are the latest polls saying now? Are the CPC still dropping?

If everyone didn't vote for a party because of one issue that didn't sit well with them, no one would vote. My vote's going to the CPC's even though there are some things I'd like them to do differently.

With everything that is going on right now, that is a pretty small piece of the pie. Give the conservatives your vote, then vent your thoughts about the copyright bill later. That is what I am going to do, and I have a vested interest in that area as a licensed DJ whom could see my secondary livelihood adversely impacted by this. I have already spoken out via getting my DJ association to retract their intended support of that bill to re-evaluate it.

On a side note, Question Period has had some good interviews this afternoon. Here is the Harper interview. Link for Dion interview will be edited in shortly.

Truth of it is....I'm concerned that the government isn't going to listen....no matter HOW many of us complain. The response I got from my MP was a copy of the bill....well, duh....I've already read it.

I'll try to email him again. My vote depends on his response.
