Default Blackberry Storm Delayed until December 10th

http://www.bell.ca/shopping/PrsShpPr...rry_Storm.page

I guess Bell and Telus are in a bit of an exclusivity bidding war but the projected date for the phone is Nov 2nd.

Here it is at RIM's site http://www.blackberry.com/blackberrystorm/

I'm seriously so happy this is finally coming to light, I really didn't want an IPhone - as i didn't want to go to rogers and yet I wanted a touchphone. So it's either the HTC Touch Pro (not release in Canada yet) or this, but really it's this.

I like the phone, but really don't know about a couple things:

1) I think it was thestar.ca that posted an article about it a few days back stating that under the screen there actually were springs to give the effect of pressing buttons. What ever happened to the haptic shock that was supposed to be implemented? While it's nice to have a touch device that you can actually feel while typing, how durable can something like this last with mechanical parts like this? I trust blackberry, but build quality isn't always that great.

2) Why the heck is there no WIFI? To me, that's absolutely HUGE! While I've read somewhere the GSM will have it, to leave it out when your hugest competitor has it is a very large oversight. I'm really scratching my head with that one since it forces you to use a dataplan. Perhaps building carrier loyalty to the blackberry name? Who knows.

i like the concept...but will the "double tap" touch keyboard be all that? i used the double...but now i am back on the single letter keyboard and i like that better.

at some point though...this always comes back to the data plan. telus and bell have got to leverage this to beat rogers...and getting a gsm network will help too.

Crap. I don't want anything to do with Bell or Telus.

I think I'll get a http://europe.nokia.com/5800xpressmusic when available.

The new Curve looks really nice too. No 3G though.

So your saying the Storm has a keyboard, or typing feature, similar to a Blackberry Pearl instead of a full Qwerty keyboard?

I'm intrigued by the Storm on one hand, and scared to death on the next (typing on a touch screen for instance).

I thought that the storm is a full keyboard, and that the feel is supposed to be similar to a normal keyboard as opposed to a touch keyboard?

I wasn't too interested, until a friend of mine explained it all to me. Now this thing sounds incredible!

The whole screen is like one big button in that it is clickable, press down and the whole screen moves down like a button.

Not sure how that will feel but the few guys I've spoken to that have tried it said it works pretty well.

Since this is kinda becoming a blackberry thread....

The new Blackberry Pearl Flip 8220 is suppose to come out tomorrow, though some people have been lucky enough to snag them before hand (like me! )

Pretty sweet phone so far, definitely love the flip phone compared to the curve...was thinking of the bold but considering price this was a better option for me.

That does sound incredible. I guess I'll have to decide what I want more. A bigger screen for videos and surfing the web. Or the convenience of the track ball.

can't wait to try this out friday.. i have been itching for something new to replace my BB 8830 and either want a storm or iphone..

I am leaning towards the storm if i like it since i am used to BB and think it may be better for all of the business email i do compared to the iphone..

Really i guess i have no idea which way to go.

If you go with the Storm, let us know what you like and don't like. My Curve is 7 months old and I'm thinking of getting a Storm if they are an improvement.

the font, i believe, is selectable. If you've seen the commercials, the font they use is nothing like that.

Also, it looks like it has been delayed to December 10th.
