Default Jewelry Repair Recommendations

Can anyone suggest a great place to get jewelry repairs done? I'm looking for the kind of place where I can actually talk to the jeweler who will be doing the repair and explain exactly what I want (and don't want!)

Looking to get claws and redone on a diamond wedding/engagement ring set. Inspect for damage. Clean, polish, and that's about it.

I recently had it repaired through People's - and while the stones aren't falling out or anything, they did a rather lumpy, clumsy job of it.

Is there anyone good & trustworthy in town CPers know of? For some strange reason, It makes me jumpy to hand over thousands of dollars worth of gold and diamonds to someone I don't know for several weeks while they fix it.

I got some jewellery custom made at Goldsmiths in Kensington, http://www.thegoldsmiths.ca/ and they did a great job, and were very fast.
My mom also took hers their to get the claws fixed after having issues with Birks and was very impressed with their work.

I bought my fiancee's engagement ring at Troy Shoppe Jewelers and when I went to pick it up the jeweler (I am not sure if that is the correct name...) can out to see what we thought. He also asked me if I was a hockey fan, and then he showed me a Red Wings cup ring that he was fixing for a hockey scout friend of his.

So, in conclusion, Troy Shoppe fixes jewelery I think...

I would recommend J. Vair Anderson. I have purchased a number of things there and also had some rings resized. The service has always been exceptional, and I have never felt uncomfortable with them having an expensive possession.

A friend of mine is in the Jewellery business and he and his partner are opening up a shop in MT. Royal by the Met on 17th. He's awesome, he fixed my mom's rope chain which is a tough fix.

He's your guy, send me a pm if you want his #.
