CALGARY FLAMES OPENING NIGHT ROSTER FINALIZED

Calgary, AB – Calgary Flames General Manager Darryl Sutter announced today the final roster for the opening night of the 2008-09 season in Vancouver on Thursday, October 9th.

Flames forwards Dustin Boyd and Jamie Lundmark along with defenseman Anders Eriksson have been assigned to the Quad City Flames (AHL).
Boyd returns to the Quad Cities after beginning the season with the team in 2007-08. He recorded nine points (two goals and seven assists) in 18 AHL games last season. Jamie Lundmark has appeared in 483 professional games including 232 NHL contests. Last season, he scored 33 points (13 goals and 20 assists) in 51 games with the AHL's Lake Erie Monsters. Eriksson has appeared in 552 NHL games and captured the Stanley Cup as a member of the 1997-98 Detroit Red Wings. In 2007-08, he played 61 games for the Calgary Flames and recorded 18 points on a goal and 17 assists.
Defenseman Rhett Warrener has been placed on the Injury Reserve List.

Also remaining on injury reserve are defenseman Gord Baldwin, goaltender Kevin Lalande and forward John Armstrong.

The Calgary Flames will open their home schedule on Saturday, October 11th at the Pengrowth Saddledome with the return game of a home-and-home with divisional rival Vancouver Canucks.
The Quad City Flames regular season kicks off on Friday in Rockford. Game time is 7:30 p.m. The Hayman’s Ace Hardware Pre-Game Show will be on 93.9 FM WYEC beginning at 7:05 p.m. The game can also be heard on qcflames.com.

On Saturday, the River of Red returns to the i wireless Center for Opening Night 2008. Fans are encouraged to wear red to welcome the team back to the Quad Cities. The first 6,000 fans in attendance will receive River of Red Rally Towels courtesy of Genesis. Opening Weekend concludes on Sunday with a 5:05 p.m. face-off with the Peoria Rivermen. The first 5,000 fans will receive magnetic schedules.

You have the NHL salary cap to thank for your good fortune. Hopefully the spin doctors in QC can generate some excitement for Boyd's presence at the home opener.
