Default Looking for a Summer Cottage/Home

Hey guys, I am currently teaching in Nunavut. During the summer I always head back to Newfoundland for the summer but need to stay with my parents. I looked for a cabin/cottage in Newfoundland last summer but the housing market is CRAZY there believe it or not.

So my question is:

ANyone have any recommendations for a place to buy? It can be Canada or the US, I am completely open to suggestions.

I know the housing market in the US has gone to the crapper so maybe there is the place to look?

Thoughts?

Not too far, what's the deal with this place? I would also be willing to buy a place where I could eventually work down the road and live it permanently.

Well its basically a pure resort town. Land and properties there are de-valued though and if you like beaches in the summer, skiing in the winter and just a beautiful place to get away I can see the attraction!

Its basically the same distance from Calgary as the Okanagan, but without the Hells Angels! (There was some issue with the Aryan Nations a few years back, but that has apparently all but dried up.

I've been looking at this myself...but from a personal standpoint I'm not sure that its something that I should invest in right now. Market wise though its compelling!!
