Nice and low key - leaves turning colour, sun setting on the downtown skyline, nice weather - made for a comfortable relaxing date. We're getting together again Wednesday night.

Start by taking her to the game tonight, or go somewhere and watch it. Should put everyone in a good mood afterwards

I definately would not recommend a movie, how the heck are you going to get to know eachother? I would say pick a pub or coffee shop a bit on the quieter side. After about an hour or two, move on to something interactive like bowling, golf, pool etc.
Tip: Get her to meet you at your place before you leave to go out. Meet her at the door while tying your shoes or whatever, then leave. This will make it easier for you to invite her over afterwards, because she has seen where you live and is more comfortable with it. Because remember, you have to show her your cool new stereo in your room, or your exotic fish collection.........or whatever.

My wife and I had our first date at Higher Ground in Kensington, though that was about 8.5 years ago and it's was a much less crowded place.

If you want something more upscale, take her to Pulcinella for a coffee/drink and dessert. I think dessert dates are a pretty good option, more casual than a full dinner, easier to do late in the evening.

Take her to CPO for "Lord of the Rings" dressed up as Gollum. If she doesn't bolt she's yours forever. Hell, if she doesn't run away at the first sight you could probably plow her on the conductor's podium during the performance.

Just tell her she's gotta check out the trouser snake in your room.

While not totally applicable for the first date, we were all given some advice once from a man named GreenLantern. I will quote his greatness now:

Quote:
You need to wrack up a killer score on Counterstrike or COD4, like just a massive K/D ratio, 100-3 or something. Print screen that, then tell her you have something for her that is very special. Something you know she has been waiting for.. and something you feel it is time to share together, for the rest of your lives.

After she is all teary eyed and expecting something ground breaking, you bust out the pic of your domination, shove it in her face and yell "PWNEEEEDD!! PEW PEW PEW PEW PEWPEW PEWP PEW PWE!!" naturally performing the air gun motions while moving around her in a counter clockwise pattern. When she screams "WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" You say "Nothing sweetie, calm down, I am just strafing. PEW PEW PEW PEW!!"

Thanks for that suggestion. Pulcinella definitely looks more suited to my tastes.

I think lunch is a great first date. That way you can always get out of it by saying you have a dr. appointment after. My husband and I went for lunch on our first date, which turned into supper, which turned into forever. But if it didn't work out, it would have been a great out after lunch to say I had an appointment. As far as going out after the pub tonight, if it goes well, you won't want to leave the pub will you? Not much to do that late at night and if you both work she probably won't want to stay out that late. And if she DOES then I'm assuming she wants to stay out ALL night and that wouldn't be at a bar.

Pub-wise I'd recommend Kensington Pub, just because its a big quieter and more low key than the others around there.

If you want to switch it up, and do a breakfast or lunch date, I HIGHLY recommend Dairy Lane in Kensington, on 19th street. Awesome little diner type place with great food and good service.
