Tory candidate blames crime on immigrants
http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/C...877636-cp.html
"Look at who's committing these crimes ... They're not the kid that grew up next door," Richardson told the Calgary newsmagazine Fast Forward Weekly.
"Particularly in big cities, we've got people that have grown up in a different culture," he said. "And they don't have the same background in terms of the stable communities we had 20, 30 years ago in our cities and don't have the same respect for authority or people's person or property."
You wonder how these people are able to function as human beings after stupid comments like this one.

Looks like somebody gets to share a small unlit room with Myron Thompson and Rob Anders until the end of the election!

Dumb comments. It's not just immigrants that are responsible for crime as there are many other factors to the problem.

His comment of ask the police, does anyone have any stats from CPS on what the ratios are for immigrants and crimes? That'd be interesting to see and could determine if he's offbase or maybe up to something.

Richardson's no rookie, he should know better.
I don't know if I'm glad he said this or not, as in, since he believes it, isn't it better that we know he holds some back-water hillbilly views?
He'll still win.

There are only two things that I don't like. People who are intolerant of other peoples cultures, and the dutch.

Immigrants. We work harder, and we kill harder. Seems only fair.

Funny story, two days ago in 7/11 the guy in front of me was regaling the clerk of tales about how when he was a kid he could buy ni$%er babies (black jujubes) for xx cents. He was sure to add that "nowadays he isn't allowed to use that term" (funny, you just did you old POS). The dark skinned clerk was polite and didn't cause a scene. If this 70 year old bitter man is a sign of the respectful days of 30 years ago Richardson longs for, then I can't wait till these old white fatas get cancer and die off.
You are a european immigrant person, you don't count in this argument.

Old people are typically racist. My 91 year old Grandpa is the worst. He'd make Hilter blush if they watched Dr. Phil or Springer together.

My grandma is similar, she's very bigoted and doesn't trust anyone that isn't usually white (it used to be anyone who isn't Polish, but she broadened her horizons).
My grandfather was by far the worst, though. He became quite bitter about other races after experiencing WWII. When he was fighting in Palestine and North Africa, he referred to 'them' as "jungle bunnies." Yikes....

As someone posted on some of the cbc comments, if Richardson was right, wouldn't Toronto be the most crime-ridden city in Canada (42% foreign born)? In fact it has the LOWEST crime rate in Canada. Regina, with only 7% foreign born has the HIGHEST crime rate in Canada.
Calgary's a very accepting place to all kinds of people including immigrants. It's a city built on outsiders. These are shameful comments that I don't think represent the views of Calgarians or most Canadians. Calgary's also becoming one of the most diverse cities in Canada. Approaching 25% visible minority. Only Vancouver and Toronto have a higher rate - Calgary's higher than Montreal.

That's kind of funny, since the only thing my grandfather ever harps about is the fact that I should never, ever, marry a Polish girl. Apparently they are all a bunch of tramps who just want your money.

Haha, that's interesting! I've heard that side of the coin too.
To be fair, my grandmother also said to never vote for a Pole, because they would just **** things up. Vote for anyone else.
As for dating, my grandma believes that the closer you get to Tehran, the worse off you are. That's why it's fun to date east asian women; their not so bad that my grandma will shun me from the family, but it's close enough to cheese her off.

No stats for you, but a quote from a former cop:
" Cam Stewart, a former Calgary cop who now runs an intercultural consulting company, says the majority of criminals in Calgary are “mainstream” Caucasian Canadians. He suggests the notion that immigrants are responsible for crime comes from fear, not facts. “That’s why we’re getting that rise of hate groups in our city and in our province,” says Stewart, who used to work in the CPS diversity resources unit. “Because people are hearing this at the dinner table. They’re hearing this in the coffee shops or in the bars, and they’re saying, ‘Well, we’ve got to stand up for our rights’ and all that stuff.”

apparently my grandparents actually owned a dog named n*****. My mom was completely unaware that it was a slur until she moved off the farm.
