Wow, it seems to have happened so quickly.
May his soul rest in peace.

Indeed. He was only diagnosed for a second time in August, and a month later, he's gone.

My aunt and uncle lived in Regina many years ago and introduced me to Ron Lancaster. I was 14 at the time and he tossed a football to me. Knocked me clear on my ass.
Sad day for Rough Rider fans and the Country.
One of the greats is gone.

What sad news. Lancaster is probably one of the most forgotten colour analysts of all time. Him and Don Whitman in the booth was awesome, before he left to start coaching.

RIP Ron. You were one of my early CFL memories, both as a player late in your career and as a broadcaster.

Very much a surprise and not long after his second cancer diagnosis. Must have been caught too late.
RIP

Absolutely stunning news. He and George Reed were the best QB/RB combo in league history.
Wow...just shocked. really too bad.

i only knew Lancaster as a commentator but what a heck of a job he did. I will always remember (because he said it all the time) "The ground can't make you fumble" when a ball would pop loose after a guy was tackled. He was a great guy to watch a game along with and learn.
RIP Ron.

Ain't it the truth. I grew up in Saskatchewan, many fond memories of those two on the football field.
RIP, thx for the memories.

Sad day. As a Rider fan, it's sad to see a legend of the franchise pass away (I never saw him play live as a Rider but know he and Reed were the greatest players to don the green and white) but it's clear that Ronnie left a positive impression on the entire league - whether it be as a player, a coach, a GM, a commentator or an ambassador of the league. RIP Ronnie.
