Default iTunes 8 question

Hey everyone,

I have an iPod and an iPhone, so before anyone tells me I should use another program, this is the one I use!

But the newest thing in iTunes 8 is bugging me, you know, the genius bar. How do I turn it off so I don't see it. I like seeing album titles, all that stuff, and I hate scrolling over to get around the genius bar because then I don't see track title. Any ideas?

Otherwise, anyone noticed anything else in iTunes 8 that is worthy of mention?

Edit: isn't that what usually happens? make a thread then fix the problem. Looks like you can "hide it" by clicking the button in the bottom right. Thanks anyway, I guess this thread can die.

Turn it off: There is a 'Hide Sidebar' button right in the Genius Sidebar. Click the button, it disappears.

Oh and I see there is also an arrow button in the bottom right corner. Click it once, Genius goes away. Click it again, it comes back. Stupendous!!!

No namecalling please. It could be an easy miss!

Have not tried it. First thing I thought when I saw it was, how do I get rid of it?

I tired it, not the worst thing in the world for making cool playlists, but yeah, was annoying when I could not turn it off.

The sidebar is basically pointless. As far as I can see, it's simply a link to the store and shows you titles that Apple thinks you should buy. The icon on the bottom right (square with a triangle in it) will hide the side bar.

You can still do the Genius playlist thing using only your library by selecting a song and clicking on the Atom symbol.

For a free product, I can't knock it since I've been using my Genius generated playlists since I installed version 8.

Anyone heard issues with iTunes 8 in Windows. Apparently 7 was fine, but now in 8 when you plug in the USB users are getting a BSOD. Apple has been blaming MS, but users are saying if 7 worked fine and now 8 is blowing up that it is something Apple should take care of.

So has anyone on here had any issues?

None here for Itunes 8, but I have only plugged in a couple times in the last week or so.

Yeah the Genius Bar gets in the way for sure. I never buy my music from iTunes, I only buy CDs and rip them myself (lossless > lossey).

I love the Genius playlist creator thingy though.

I've really liked genius so far. I constantly find myself in moods where I'm skipping through a playlist looking for something that "does it" for me. Now when i find the one song I i can hit a button and a playlist is created that suits my ever-changing mood.

I also find the sidebar useless and will be disabling it shortly.
