The whammy on my guitar broke this morning. I wonder how long it'll be before you can purchase individual instruments from Rock Band 2.

bought Rock Band 2 this morning, haven't got to playing yet but I am pretty displeased with the importing of rockband 1 songs.
You need to have a xbox live account and purchase a export license for a additional 5$ in order to export your songs from rockband 1 to use in rock band 2.
Pretty cheap if you ask me....

Yeah, I'm a little displeased about having to purchase that key as well. I'm exporting RB1 now, but kind of a kick in the teeth to have to dish out more money. I'm guessing it's mostly so people can't just rent RB one and use it to pretty much DL the game for free.

Is that just for all the RB1 songs on the disc or the DLC content?
Edit: nevermind...I googled it. RB2 is sweet though...only had a few hours to play it before work but much better songs IMO....

There is no password. You update Rock Band and then go into options and there will be an Export Songs button. It will ask you to buy the key and once you do the songs will be downloaded to your hard drive except for Enter Sandman, Run To The Hills, an d Paranoid(Black Sabbath).

I thought 5 bucks was a pretty good deal for the convenience of having all those songs on one disc. They could have easily been a bunch of ######s and not even allowed for the old songs to be compatible.

According to Harmonix, the nominal $5 fee was to cover licensing of the music. For Rock Band 1, they had signed a "one game" deal with the music companies, so to use those songs again in Rock Band 2, they had to pay a second licensing fee.
Anyway, $5 is hardly a big deal. That's the price of what, three downloaded songs? For the same fee you get everything off the RB1 disc (minus a few exceptions) plus the ability to delete the songs you don't like (so long, Fallout Boy!).

I don't own the game yet as it won't be on ps3 for another month, but from what I've read on the IGN review it appears as though they've fixed every issue I had with the first one.
First off, I think 5$ to transfer all the songs is an excellent deal. As mentioned before they had to pay more money to get the games in, so it's not like they're making a mint off that move.
I agree with powerplayoffs06 about the no fail mode. It's always rough with a family member or first-timer as they generally feel like they're bringing down the fun for everyone else.
I also agree about the single player tour. Excellent stuff. I also read in the review that a group can do a tour and not have to worry about increasing the difficulty. My wife is good, but we did get to a point where we couldn't progress because she couldn't make the jump to hard on drums.
I adore the ability to make custom setlists too. Not having to jump back to the menu screens after each song will make things much smoother.
Overall it sounds like they went with the "if it ain't broke" line of thinking. I'm very pleased to hear that!

i bought it yesterday as well, and it's awesome!
I don't mind the $5 transfer fee since i can make setlists of songs from RB1 and RB2 and not have to swap discs and all that (yay custom setlists)
The online band is awesome also, played over live with Green Hard Hat. The challanges and battle of the bands is really good too, I can see it being very addictive (was only 0.02 stars from beating the next closest band!!)
All in all, the "if it a'int broke, don't fix it" approach to RB2 is great.

Has anyone bought the new guitar or drums? I don't like the RB1 guitar and read to stay away from the new one if you didn't like the first. I am going to wait for the GH World Tour one to come out and likely buy that as I prefer the GH3 one.
As for the drums, they look like an upgrade (more quiet, pressure sensitive, wireless) but I read that more than a few people have had issues with the yellow and blues playing together when either note was hit. It might be a good idea to wait out this first wave of instruments until the bugs are worked out.

Yes, the $5 transfer will be on the ps3 as well. I've also heard that you will be able to rent rb1 and transfer that way.
If you get it let me know ... we can start up a cp band.

I'll be getting it too, my family loves to play it when they come over, plus it's the one game that my wife plays.

Hey guys I just had a question. I was wondering how playing Rock Band 1 or 2 is on a smaller TV. I have only played at a friend's house and he has a massive 42" HD TV. I have a 27" old "SD" TV I suppose you could call it. It's not widescreen or flat screen or anything like that. Is it still playable for everybody? The one thing I am concerned with is the singer. I know on some games on the Xbox 360 the writing is really hard to read if you don't have a HD TV (NHL 09 for example.)
